Talent Acquisition Specialist (Maternity Cover)
TLDR
Support recruitment for high-volume roles across multiple regions, ensuring a seamless candidate experience while collaborating closely with cross-regional Talent Partners.
KingMakers is a digital entertainment group proudly built in Africa, for Africa.
Since our beginnings in 2018, we’ve grown into a team of more than 700 professionals across Lagos, Cape Town, Madrid, Malta and London. Through our brands BetKing (Nigeria) and SuperSportBet (South Africa and Zambia), we connect millions of fans every day.
Backed by MultiChoice Group, Africa’s largest pay-TV operator, we combine the credibility and reach of a major media company with the ambition and agility of a scale-up.
Our vision is bold: to be the African home of sports and iGaming entertainment, where play is innovative, inclusive and always responsible.
We're looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our People team on a fixed-term basis to cover a maternity leave from mid-May through December 2026, a great opportunity to immerse yourself in a fast-paced, multi-region recruitment environment.
This role is the engine room of our hiring: supporting recruitment for SuperSportBet and KingMakers Group (South Africa), with focus on high-volume and recurring roles (Customer Service, Operations, Payments, Marketing, entry to mid-level positions).
You'll collaborate closely with our Talent Partner in SA and our Talent Partners across Malta and Nigeria. Your mission: deliver great hires, with great candidate and hiring manager experience, every time.
We're not looking for a long CV, we're looking for the right attitude and a solid baseline. Someone organised, reliable and unflappable, who thrives on follow-through, finds genuine satisfaction in a clean ATS and a well-managed pipeline, and enjoys keeping the trains running. This is a role for someone with strong execution, attention to detail and people skills, not for someone chasing complex strategic projects.
About the Role
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for high-volume and recurring SuperSportBet and KingMakers Group roles in South Africa: sourcing, screening, scheduling, candidate management, offers and onboarding handover.
- Provide direct support to our Talent Partner in South Africa: working jointly on SSB hiring priorities, sharing pipelines and ensuring continuity of delivery across the team.
- Collaborate with Talent Partners across Malta, Spain and Nigeria to support cross-region recruitment as needed.
- Build and maintain strong sourcing pipelines through LinkedIn, local networks, job boards and other channels.
- Assess talent through structured interviews, ensuring fairness, consistency and a high quality bar.
- Own candidate background checks and pre-employment screening: initiate, follow up and close out in line with SLAs and compliance requirements.
- Partner with hiring managers: share market insights, time-to-fill realities and candidate engagement best practices, and learn from their experience to refine your approach to each role.
- Keep Workable (ATS) clean and current: accurate stages, notes, scorecards and statuses, every day.
- Champion candidate experience throughout the hiring lifecycle, from first touchpoint to onboarding.
- Promote SuperSportBet and KingMakers as employers of choice through every interaction with candidates and the wider talent community.
- Innovate and improve recruitment programs and ways of working alongside the rest of the TA team.
Requirements
- Around 2 years of experience in Talent Acquisition or recruitment, ideally in-house and in volume-heavy environments (BPO, customer service, retail, hospitality, or similar).
- Reliable follow-through: when you say you'll close the loop, you do - every candidate, every hiring manager, every time.
- Comfortable with admin: background checks, scheduling, contracts, document collection and compliance steps don't intimidate you - they're part of the craft.
- Strong sourcing skills: proactive, creative and confident across LinkedIn, networks, job boards and Boolean search.
- Hands-on ATS experience (Workable a plus, not required) comfortable keeping data clean and using funnel metrics to inform decisions.
- Solid talent assessment skills: structured interviewing comes naturally and decisions are fair and evidence-based.
- A people person: connecting with candidates and hiring managers comes naturally, and their experience sits at the heart of every interaction.
- Team-oriented: you thrive in collaborative environments where open communication and shared goals come first - "we" takes precedence over "I."
- Proactive and accountable: takes ownership without being asked, follows through to closure, and ensures nothing falls through the cracks.
- Solution-oriented: when something isn't working, the instinct is to find the way forward, not to dwell on the obstacle.
- Comfortable across geographies: multiple time zones, cultures and stakeholder groups.
- Strong English communication: clear, direct and human - both in writing and on calls.
At KingMakers, we believe great talent comes in many forms. If you don't meet every single requirement listed, don't let that hold us back from talking. We're not just looking for someone who checks every box, we're looking for someone who can grow, adapt and bring their unique perspective to our team. Skills can be learned, and attitude is what we value most.
