Systems Engineer, Quantum Hardware

Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art. 

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer with a solid background in Electrical Engineering to join a department focused on the research and development of novel test instrumentation.  Our teams within the department are involved in all phases of the engineering life-cycle, from concept development to operations.  The ideal candidate will have experience with implementing systems engineering processes/practices and facilitating design instruction on electronic hardware systems and components at low technology readiness levels.  Skills necessary include writing technical requirements, developing concept of operations and creating interface control documents that align with system architectures and supports the configuration management for future system operations. 

Essential Duties:
Work with integrated teams applying systems engineering processes including concept of operations development, requirements definition, interface control documentation, design definition and development, all in support of future systems.
Regularly coordinate with product development teams, internal & external manufacturing suppliers, and engineering specialists.
Lead requirements traceability to provide improved support to design engineering activities and development of validation test plans to demonstrate achieved requirements.
Produce and review engineering documentation including process instructions, block diagrams, netlists, schematic diagrams, high-level drawings, and bills of materials.
Ability to effectively and proactively communicate and collaborate with project teams and management.

Required Skills:
Strong hands-on experience with systems engineering, integration, and electrical test.
Knowledge of systems engineering life-cycle, processes and the ability to apply these processes in a new technology/research-type environment (low TRL level) is essential.
Working knowledge of analog and mixed signal electronics circuits, electronic test equipment, and measurement techniques.
Knowledge of one or more of the following is desired: DOORS, Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, Rhapsody, CAMEO model-based engineering tools, and/or Multidisciplinary, Design, Analysis and Optimization (MDAO).
 
Required Education:
BS or MS in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.

Special Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required. 

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $96,800 - $118,600 + bonus + benefits.

Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
