SkyGrid, a Boeing, Avathon Company, exists to open the sky for autonomous flight. Based in Austin, Texas, SkyGrid builds ground based high-assurance third-party services to enable the safe operations and airspace integration of highly automated and autonomous aircraft. SkyGrid also acts as a key operational nexus for advanced air mobility, integrating and managing data, infrastructure, access, and traffic to support seamless and efficient air traffic services.
The SkyGrid team is looking for a highly skilled Systems Engineer III to lead the systems engineering efforts for the development of key functions including Traffic Surveillance and Maintenance Functionality. This role will involve driving the entire process, from initial concept and preliminary design to requirements capture, and validation and verification.
Performance Objectives:
Analyzing and developing system and subsystem-level requirements and functional architecture, including key functions like Traffic Surveillance and Maintenance Functionality
Execution of validation and verification activities for functions such as Traffic Surveillance and Maintenance Functionality
Maintenance of requirements and system documentation updates as needed
Establishment of a positive supplier relationship with data service providers
Collaboration and sharing of technical expertise within a cross-functional team
Responsibilites:
Support the systems engineering efforts from conceptual design, through validation and test
Develop functions (Traffic Surveillance and Maintenance Functionality) of the Strata system in accordance with industry standards
Capture, decompose, and validate requirements from initial design to final verification
Support planning and execution of validation and verification activities.
Perform system modeling, requirements decomposition, and support of engineering technical reviews
Collaborate with cross-functional team members to manage the integration of surveillance data service providers and Maintenance Functionality
Support technology maturation of advanced system capabilities in accordance with industry standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related STEM degree from an accredited university or college
7+ years of experience working in a highly technical, aerospace-related industry
2+ years of experience as a System Engineer involved with the development, implementation, and deployment of complex systems
Familiarity with Systems Engineering principles and requirement tools (e.g. DOORS, Polarion)
Experience working on certified aerospace programs including ARP 4754A, ARP 4761
Experience with MBSE tools (e.g. Cameo)
Strong communication skills, self-driven and capable of participating in senior leadership discussions
Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in engineering or related field
Experience working on certified aerospace programs including ARP 4754A
Proficient in RTCA DO-381 and DO-260C
