About Woven by Toyota
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.
Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM
Our team's mission is to realize Woven's vision of "Mobility for All" by developing autonomous vehicles that can operate without human involvement. We specifically focus on Mobility as a Service (MaaS) applications. MaaS offers the advantage of increased vehicle usage time through ridesharing, allowing us to equip vehicles with advanced sensors and computers necessary for achieving reliable driverless operations. We change people's lives with our driverless vehicles. While working towards our mission we aim to build a diverse team of curious and dedicated individuals with different experiences.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are seeking a systems engineer with a passion for safety, capable of integrating functional safety engineering and autonomous system design. In this role, you will work closely and openly with autonomy software, data platform, operations, and AI architecture teams to shape safe, reliable autonomous systems. You will lead the adoption of ISO 26262 and SOTIF (ISO 21448) processes, drive safety-case creation, and actively contribute hands-on coding and system integration as a proactive and collaborative partner.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (autonomy software, data platform, operations, AI architecture) to define and refine safety requirements and system architectures that prioritize reliability and fault tolerance
Design and implement validation processes and metrics to evaluate autonomous system behavior under degraded or fault conditions, including creating simulation scenarios and test automation scripts
Resolve integration conflicts between safety requirements and functional objectives by working hands-on with software and systems engineers through design reviews and iterative prototyping
Contribute directly to coding in Python for data analysis, simulation scripting, and automated testing of safety features, with occasional C++ integration work
Document safety concepts, test results, and compliance evidence to support internal reviews, customer deliverables, and third-party safety assessments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
5+ years in safety-critical automotive, aerospace, or robotics systems in a production environment
Practical proficiency in Python for safety-related data analysis, simulation scripting, automated test/report generation, and designing evaluation methods for system validation
In-depth working experience with ISO 26262 and familiarity with SOTIF (ISO 21448) in real-world projects
Strong cross-functional communication and documentation skills to convey technical issues precisely and factually
NICE TO HAVES
Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Experience in developing software components that are designed for integration within autonomous driving systems or similar real-time robotics systems, or in integrating such components into complete systems
Proficiency in C++ (C++14 or later) for safety-critical embedded software development
Knowledge of safety analysis methods such as FMEA/FMEDA, and FTA
Experience with requirements management processes and maintaining traceability across the system lifecycle
Experience in safety case development or safety argumentation for Level 4 autonomous driving systems
