The Systems Administrator - Unix/Linux is responsible for maintaining, configuring, and optimizing our Unix/Linux server environments to ensure maximum performance and uptime. This role involves monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, ensuring security compliance, and implementing best practices for system administration. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality IT services and support across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage Unix/Linux servers, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure system security and performance.
  • Monitor server performance and availability, utilizing tools to detect and respond to system alerts and failures.
  • Automate routine tasks through scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) to improve operational efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for Unix/Linux systems.
  • Coordinate with network and security teams to ensure systems are secure and meet compliance standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system and application issues, providing timely support to end-users.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and compliance.
  • Assist in the deployment and management of virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, KVM).
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff and other IT teams.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of professional experience in UNIX and/or Linux system administration of networks and software systems. Experience in system backup and recovery; basic software management; security management and library management; installation and configuration of hardware; operational systems and COTS software; operating computer systems in different operating environments; and sizing, performance, tuning, hardware/software/network trouble shooting and resource allocation.
  • Experience in different network protocols including TCP/IP and major network security tools.
  • This position is required to be designated as IAT II level with a T5.
