Who we are supporting 

The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO's member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO's communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
  • Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO's military commanders to plan and execute operations.
  • Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
  • Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO's mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
  • Information Management: The NCIA manages NATO's information technology infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.

Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)

The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATO’s principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider. It provides, maintains and defends the NATO enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV, and, when required, stand together in the face of attack under Article V.

To provide these critical services, in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performance-engaged workforce. The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorise's: NATO International Civilians (NIC)'s, Military (Mil), and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)'s. The IWCs are a critical part of the overall NCI Agency workforce and make up approximately 15 percent of the total workforce.


  1. Linux Function
    1. Essential Skills
      1. 5+ years of experience in managing and patching Linux environments, specifically RHEL and OEL.
    2. Responsibilities:
      1. Patching all Linux-based systems including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) across all NATO locations.
      2. Utilizing tools like Ansible and Oracle Linux Manager (OLM) for patch management and deployment.
      3. Ensuring patches are thoroughly tested before deployment
      4. Conducting post-patch validation to ensure system stability and performance
  2. Network Function
    1. Essential Skills
      1. 5+ years of experience in network administration and patch management, particularly with Load Balancers.
    2. Responsibilities:
      1. Patching and managing network-related devices, such as Load Balancers (Riverbed Stingray, Pulse Secure) across various NATO locations
      2. Ensuring that network patches are tested and validated before deployment.
      3. Troubleshooting any issues arising from patching network devices.
      4. Ensuring compliance with network security policies.
  1. VMWARE Function
    1. Essential Skills
      1. 5+ years of experience with VMware technologies, including ESXi and vCenter.
    2. Responsibilities:
      1. VMware ESXi servers and VMware vCenter management platforms across all NATO locations.
      2. Applying patches to VMware environments, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining high availability.
      3. Conducting pre-patch tests and post-patch validation to ensure stability and performance.
  1. Hardware Function
    1. Essential Skills
      1. 5+ years of experience in managing and maintaining enterprise-level hardware systems.
    2. Responsibilities:
      1. Patching and upgrading firmware on physical hardware including HPE Rackmount and Blade Servers, Dell Servers, and associated storage systems across various NATO locations.
      2. Ensuring all hardware is compliant with the latest security and operational updates.
      3. Conducting pre-patch validation and post-patch testing to ensure hardware stability.

  • Some travel to other NATO sites may be required
