HRL Laboratories is hiring a

System Administrator

Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art. 

HRL is seeking a senior level systems administrator experienced in Windows and Linux environments. The successful candidate will team with other systems administrators located at various locations throughout the United States. A willingness to continue learning new technologies is a must. An active TS/SCI clearance with a full-scope polygraph and experience in classified programs is required.

Essential Duties:
•Work directly with programs to ensure Information Technology infrastructure solutions meet the program requirements and schedules
•Performs a multi-disciplined range of technical systems and application activities
•Installs, configures, and maintains multiplatform systems hardware, software, and components
•Administer and manage Windows and Linux systems in the operations, engineering, analysis, and test environments
•Maintains Windows Systems comprised of servers and workstations. Administer installation of software, hardware, file system management, backups, process control, user administration, and device management
•Responsible for resolving a wide variety of complex system failures, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problems
•Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Active Directory domains and forests
•Perform system and user account maintenance
•Test and assess security configuration of Windows and Linux servers
•Monitor, evaluate, and optimize system performance
•Analyze, test, and implement security patches and hardening
•Develop and promote standard operating procedures and conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
•Participate in internal/external security audits/inspections

Required Skills:
•7+ years’ experience with in performing system administration tasks on Windows and Linux hosts including installing security patches and making configuration changes to support security requirements
•7+ years’ experience integrating hardware and software components into a functional system
•7+ years’ experience computing administration to include managing Microsoft active directory design, deploy and operational support
•5+ years’ experience working with Virtualized Systems (e.g., VMWare) design and implementation
•5+ years’ experience architecting, designing, and implementing a DevOps infrastructure for a program
•Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams to resolve business impacting computing issues
•Experience maintaining and operating a Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
•Experience with systems management and automation software (e.g., Endpoint Configuration Manager, Satellite, Ansible)
•Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) applications and frameworks
•Strong understanding of standardized Network Protocols and Services (e.g., TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, etc.)
•Strong understanding of Group Policy management
•Experience with scripting for task automation (e.g., PowerShell, Batch, BASH)
•Strong understanding of Public Key Cryptography (PKI)
•Strong understanding of multiplatform system hardening (e.g., DISA STIG, SCAP, CS2)
•Experience with Risk Management Framework and managing system accreditations

Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.

Special Requirements:
Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, and in some cases with little to no advance notice. Up to 20% travel to other HRL locations will be required. Initial hiring period will require working from the Malibu, California campus for a minimum of one month to three months. Actual duration will be dependent on security clearance processing.

This position requires that the applicant possess a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+, CySA+, etc).
This position requires that the applicant selected have an active TS/SCI clearance with a full-scope polygraph.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $86,000 - $140,000 + bonus + benefits.
