This role focuses on field-based work: performing Stormwater Pollution Prevention (SWPPP) inspections, observing construction progress, and ensuring compliance. We are seeking Stormwater / Erosion Control Inspectors to conduct monthly, weekly or bi-weekly required inspections on active utility and construction sites across the state of New York. This individual should be experienced in a variety of projects and with focus on ensuring compliance with applicable erosion and sediment control and stormwater management regulations, ultimately resulting in a successfully constructed project. The position would be attached to our Environmental Division in our Rochester, NY office.
Duties:
• Perform SWPPP inspections on active construction sites, documenting compliance with erosion and sediment control measures
• Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to ensure Stormwater and Erosion Control compliance with provided Engineering construction documents.
• Preparing detailed technical SWPPP reports, and maintaining related on-site documents
• Maintain organized field notes and daily logs using company templates, ensuring records are consistent and complete
• You will play a key part in ensuring our designs are built as intended, documenting field conditions, and communicating with engineers, contractors, and clients throughout construction
• This position is ideal for someone with hands-on construction, inspection, or site work experience who enjoys working outdoors, understands how site work comes together, and takes pride in accurate, organized reporting
Requirements
• Minimum BA or BS in Environmental, Ecology, or Biology.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in delineation, permitting, monitoring, construction oversight
• Familiarity with NYSDEC stormwater regulations
• Comfort working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions on uneven terrain.
• Ability to complete high quality technical reports
• Some travel within New York and surrounding states is required.
• Fast paced environmental consulting/engineering practice.
• Salary commensurate with experience.
Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
