S.R. Smith is looking for a Sustaining Engineer to join our team at the Bulkheads office in Arlington, WA.
WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
The Sustaining Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes and supports the engineering function by analyzing designs for manufacturing and assembly. Performs cost estimating, prepares bill of materials and plans and justifies capital equipment. Will also test and evaluate existing products for design and manufacturing improvements. Additionally, you will:
- Develop conceptual and detailed product designs to meet product specifications. Investigate design factors such as function, materials, performance, and cost. Prepare project plans to ensure projects meet cost and schedule goals. Review product designs using analytical and investigative methods to ensure product requirements and specifications are met.
- Prepare quoting documentation (CAD drawings and cost quotes) for various custom product lines.
- Document manufacturing processes. Create and manager manufacturing work instructions.
- Create 3D models and related 2D CAD drawings for engineering and manufacturing. Review and correct drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, and conformity to standards and procedures.
- Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient productions methods.
- Analyze and plan workspace requirements and workflow, design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Confer with suppliers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Design and perform product testing and analysis as needed.
- Perform quality assurance functions as needed to ensure high levels of quality in manufacturing.
- Review, write, and edit reports, assembly, and user instructions, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, etc. and provide recommendations to conclusions, to engineering staff and customers.
- Utilize ERP system to create part numbers and bills of materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE SEEK
- 5+ years of engineering work experience.
- Experience on value improvement of consumer products.
- Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), E-mail, and ERP systems.
- Proficient mechanical design skills using CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoDesk)
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of accomplished projects with increasing responsibilities.
- Experience working with engineering and manufacturing teams.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in engineering

Expected salary range is $110,000 - $120,000. Fluidra offers a comprehensive total rewards / benefits program that includes base salary, annual bonus based on performance of individual and company objectives, competitive 401K matching, paid vacation and sick time, full range of health benefits, educational assistance, etc. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience and location.
