Job Summary:

The Sustainability Engineer is responsible for designing systems, processes, and products that protect the environment and ensure compliance with North American state and federal requirements, specifically in waste management and sustainability, in alignment with Tranter’s strategy. This role involves maintaining and developing Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) management systems to meet relevant legislation, company policies, and standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. The engineer applies established engineering principles to optimize fabrication and assembly processes, ensuring products comply with ASME Section VIII Pressure Vessel Code, organizational quality standards, and cost objectives.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental laws and secure necessary permits.
  • Promote energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable material use.
  • Develop and implement systems for waste management, pollution control, and renewable energy.
  • Lead company-wide environmental management and sustainability initiatives.
  • Manage hazardous waste and conduct environmental audits and reporting.
  • Drive implementation of HSE, quality, and sustainability standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ASME).
  • Monitor quality metrics and support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across departments to solve problems and improve customer satisfaction through Lean Principles.



Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field required.
  • Must meet U.S. citizenship requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance, LEAN, Environmental, or related discipline, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Welding.
  • Experience and knowledge of ISO 14001
  • Experience with ASME Section VIII Pressure Vessel, nozzle loads, and seismic stresses.
  • Working knowledge of developing welding qualification procedures per ASME and military standards requirements.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, Environmental & Sustainability processes, LEAN Manufacturing, and NDT (non-destructive testing) inspection procedures.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a plus.
  • Six Sigma experience preferred.
