We have an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Coordinator who will be supporting the ESG and Sustainability team in delivery of the group wide ESG and sustainability programme. As the Sustainability Coordinator, you will manage and implement decarbonisation projects, with a particular focus on our events and supply chain.

This role will be pivotal in the coordination of standardisation across the group and ongoing sustainability improvement, with a focus on project delivery, engaging with stakeholders, gathering insights, and showcasing the programme's impact through effective communication and the development of case studies.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Responsibilities

  • Bring operational expertise, build capacity and set in place event-level decarbonisation plans.
  • Support show teams across different regions on implementation of carbon reduction initiatives that align with group sustainability objectives and timelines.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, venues, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the Better Stands programme, providing training, guidance and managing teams for on-site assessments.
  • Create post-event reports and analysis on project performance levels and challenges.
  • Represent Clarion Events at industry working groups such as the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative and the Association of Event Organisers.
  • Collect and compile case studies that demonstrate the impact of decarbonisation projects.
  • Develop engaging content for internal and external audiences, showcasing success stories and lessons learned.
  • Monitor and report the progress of sustainability initiatives for both internal & external stakeholders, including the coordination of data collection and analysis for the drafting of reports.
  • Maintain strong links with the Corporate Communications Manager to promote sustainability across the business, assisting with regular updates on environmental and sustainability awareness (for the sustainability SharePoint, website, newsletters, and other social media as required).
  • Monitoring the industry for best practices and new innovative technologies and designs (stand materials, energy efficiency, transport consolidation etc.)

Team Support

  • Support the team in enhancing Scope 3 GHG reporting from events.
  • Assisting in driving our ESG action plan and achieving our targets.
  • Other duties as agreed by the team commensurate with the level of the post.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours:

  • Proven experience in a sustainability focused role, or a sustainability related field.
  • Passionate about sustainability and working with data.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to anticipate needs.
  • Thinks ahead and solves problems creatively.
  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus), with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel and work across time zones occasionally.
  • Can work independently but is also a team player.
  • Familiarity with decarbonisation strategies, circular economy principles, or similar concepts is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the events industry, operations, venues, and contractors is desirable.
