Your Job:
As the Sustainability Analyst, Asia, you will play an integral role in executing Brooks’ Corporate Responsibility (CR) Planet strategy. You will execute initiatives while managing evolving programs that provide the foundation of our efforts to understand, validate, and reduce the environmental impact of our product and manufacturing. Working closely with our product teams, you will bring insights and recommendations to empower them to achieve our CR Planet targets.
Your Responsibilities
Perform seasonal product sustainability assessments for footwear and apparel styles, incorporating Higg product tools and Brooks’ Planet targets, conducting analysis and benchmarking, providing feedback to product teams, and contributing to the overall product scorecard process
Manage Brooks’ material sustainability standards, including evaluating new materials in accordance with Brooks’ material sustainability policies, and the company’s standards for recycled and bio-based materials.
Track environmental KPIs related to our materials, analyze performance, generate reports, and present feedback and recommendations to product teams.
Advance Brooks’ adoption of the Higg Product tools. Use the Higg Materials Sustainability Index (Higg MSI), the Higg Product Module (Higg PM) to help understand the impacts of our materials and products at different stages in the value chain by collecting and providing initial data analysis on any findings and insights.
Contribute to Brooks’ CR communications, including industry surveys, customer inquiries, the annual CR Report and brooksrunning.com
Monitor emerging sustainability-related trends in the apparel & footwear industry and develop recommendations to maximize our opportunities to reduce our environmental impact
Support the wider Corporate Responsibility team as needed
Gather and substantiate facility level energy use, efficiency and waste data. Work with team members to measure progress over time and track against Brooks’ Planet targets
Collect seasonal product and material-level information from internal teams and suppliers (i.e., product and component weights, material manufacturing processes and raw material composition) to assess and measure sustainability-related metrics for both product and materials.
Verify materials sustainability claims (i.e., recycled, bio-based, bluesign, PFC-free…) on a seasonal basis in accordance with Brooks’ recycled and bio-based material standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, Sustainability, Material Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of experience
3+ years’ experience in sustainability or relevant work
Experience working with streamlined product carbon footprint assessment tools such as the Worldly’s Product Tools (Higg Material Sustainability Index or Higg Product Module)
Fluent English communication skills (both speaking and writing). Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred.
Experience researching and using life cycle inventory factors and databases is preferred.
Strong knowledge and understanding of greenhouse gas emissions, especially indirect Scope 3 emissions
Strong quantitative and analytical skills and experience in collecting and evaluating complex data with the ability to translate this into meaningful insight that can be clearly articulated to stakeholders
Understanding of third-party standards, such as Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
Ability to create strong and meaningful relationships with stakeholders including internal teams, suppliers, and any other 3rd party organizations to drive change
Self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to travel domestically and internationally if needed
