Diamond Foundry Inc. is solving the thermal limitation at the foundation of today's most exciting tech industries -- AI & cloud compute, electric-car power electronics, and 5G/6G wireless. We have managed to produce the world's first single-crystal diamond wafers and are now on a mission to put a diamond behind every chip. We are the rare unicorn that has grown fast and profitably. We received $515m in funding and are executing a multi-$B expansion plan for one of the greenest forms of tech manufacturing: converting greenhouse gas into diamond wafers using zero-emission energy.
Join our Metrology team this summer to work at the cutting edge of diamond technology. This internship is designed for highly motivated students, from rising high school juniors to university undergraduates, who are passionate about physics, chemistry, and hands-on laboratory work. You will support our R&D efforts by performing high-precision measurements on our proprietary diamond crystals using advanced optical and infrared thermal metrology instrumentation.
Responsibilities
Measurement execution: Operate advanced in-plane thermal characterization tools to measure the thermal properties of bulk single-crystal diamonds.
Data analysis & evaluation: Process raw measurement data and evaluate the quality of results, ensuring the establishment of steady-state heat flow and accurate linear temperature gradients.
Correlation studies: Assist in correlating thermal performance data (conductivity and diffusivity) with material growth parameters and structural properties.
Technical reporting: Summarize your findings in a concise technical study and deliver a final presentation to the Metrology team.
Lab excellence: Maintain a professional and organized workspace, strictly adhering to all laboratory and laser safety protocols.
Requirements
Academic excellence: Outstanding academic performance in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
Laboratory foundation: Completion of at least one lab-based course in Chemistry, Physics, or a related technical field. Familiarity with basic lab safety is a must.
Technical literacy: Basic proficiency in data tools (Excel/Google Sheets) and the ability to follow rigorous, multi-step technical procedures.
Professional conduct: High level of maturity, punctuality, and the ability to thrive in a professional R&D environment.
Attention to detail: Precise handling of high-value samples and sensitive optical equipment is mandatory.
