Summer Dance Instructor

For youth ages 14–24 enrolled in the Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP)

Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Monday through Friday

End Goal: Student collaboration and performance in our culminating summer showcase, Dianne’s Recital

This instructor will teach movement rooted in HBCU dance traditions, including majorette-style routines, stand dances, and band choreography. Students will learn how to express themselves through movement and contribute to a dynamic showcase piece.

Requirements

  • Experience in HBCU-style, majorette, or hip-hop dance
  • Strong classroom management and choreography skills
  • Passion for youth empowerment through the arts

Performance-Based Experience

Contribute to the production of Dianne’s Recital, a city-wide performance that celebrates student growth, talent, and creativity.
