What we are looking for:

Are you a visionary QA leader who has successfully steered quality strategy for massive, cross-platform live service games?

As the Studio QA Director at Escape Velocity, you will oversee and elevate the overarching quality standards for our ambitious competitive, real-time multiplayer titles. Reporting directly to the VP of Product Development and partnering with cross-functional leaders, you will guide the studio’s QA discipline to new heights. You will inherit and iterate on established QA processes and partner closely with our Associate QA Director to drive day-to-day project testing and execution.

Your focus will be on high-level studio strategy, QA budgeting, cross-functional development alignment, and ensuring our live service operations run flawlessly across PC, console, and mobile platforms. This is a unique opportunity to shape the strategic QA infrastructure of a well-funded studio and guide our testing strategy through pre-launch, launch, and years of live service content.

Requirements

What we will do together:

• Champion and optimize the long-term strategic vision for the QA discipline across Escape Velocity, building upon our established testing processes for our products, our development methods, and our studio as a whole.
• Refine and scale studio-wide quality KPIs, release management protocols, and testing frameworks tailored for a continuous, cross-platform (PC, console, and mobile) live service environment.
• Oversee the QA budget, resource allocation, and high-level vendor strategies, acting as the ultimate decision-maker for external test partnerships and 1st party platform compliance.
• Direct, mentor, and manage the Associate QA Director, helping them grow as a leader and empowering them to successfully lead their well-functioning team in milestone-driven test execution.
• Collaborate closely with the VP of Product Development, Production, and other Studio Directors to seamlessly integrate advanced QA strategies into Agile development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead the QA organization's exploration and adoption of AI in our testing strategy, alongside assessing and implementing other advanced testing methodologies like automation, backend service testing, and data-driven QA practices to elevate existing workflows.

What you will bring:

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of advocating for quality at the executive level while fostering a collaborative environment with production and development teams.
• Extensive senior-level leadership experience (Director or equivalent) in game development QA, with a proven track record of shipping and sustaining large-scale, cross-platform live service games on PC, consoles, and mobile.
• Deep expertise in managing and mentoring senior QA staff and overseeing large, distributed internal and external testing teams.
• Comprehensive understanding of live service release management, including the intricacies of testing client features alongside backend services.
• Expert-level knowledge of modern QA tools and environments, including a deep understanding of JIRA or similar programs with a focus on bug/defect tracking, as well as experience using UE4/UE5, Perforce, and Agile Development methodologies.
• A strong sense of purpose and self-motivation, with an eye toward continuous improvement in both you and the people you work with.
