We are seeking an experienced Student Marketing Consultant to join us on a six-month independent contractor basis. This role is focused on engaging, attracting, and qualifying high-potential students in China who are suitable for international master’s and MBA study.

This is a hands-on, market-facing role that will work across online and offline student engagement channels, including recruitment events, digital platforms, partnerships, and student-facing marketing initiatives. The consultant will play a key role in ensuring that student volume is matched with student quality, with a clear focus on academic readiness, motivation, and ability to study abroad.

The ideal candidate brings strong local market knowledge, proven experience in international education marketing, and a deep understanding of how to identify and engage the right students in China.

Role responsibilities:

Student marketing and engagement

  • Plan and execute student marketing and engagement activities in China across online and offline channels.
  • Support and enhance student recruitment events with a focus on attracting high-quality candidates.
  • Engage directly with prospective students to assess suitability for international master’s and MBA programs.

Quality-focused recruitment

  • Prioritise student quality over volume, ensuring candidates have the academic profile, motivation, and financial readiness to study abroad.
  • Work closely with internal teams to align student targeting with partner university expectations.
  • Provide market insight on student behaviour, decision drivers, and quality indicators in China.

Digital and platform engagement

  • Leverage student recruitment websites, digital platforms, and local channels to drive qualified student interest.
  • Advise on China-specific digital engagement approaches, including content, channels, and partnerships.
  • Support optimisation of student journeys from first engagement through event participation and follow-up.

Market expertise and advisory

  • Act as a China market specialist, advising on best practices for engaging international postgraduate candidates.
  • Share insights on competitive landscape, student expectations, and emerging trends.
  • Provide clear feedback and recommendations to improve student engagement strategies.

Collaboration and delivery

  • Work closely with events, marketing, sales, and operations teams to ensure cohesive delivery.
  • Support the execution of campaigns and initiatives within agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Contribute to reporting and post-activity analysis focused on student quality and outcomes

Key skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in student marketing or recruitment for international education in China.
  • Strong understanding of the Chinese postgraduate student market, particularly for master’s and MBA study abroad.
  • Experience working with recruitment events, education platforms, or student engagement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, attract, and engage high-quality students.
  • Comfortable operating in a consulting or contract-based role with a focus on delivery and impact.
  • Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Practical, hands-on mindset with strong market awareness.
