This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong estimating expertise and hands-on CAD experience within the structural steel industry. Position Overview The Structural Estimator / CAD Operator will be responsible for preparing accurate project estimates, reviewing structural steel drawings, and supporting design and modeling efforts. This role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel projects, including material costs, labor hours, manpower, timelines, and profit margins
  • Review and interpret structural steel blueprints and shop drawings
  • Perform CAD work and 3D modeling related to structural steel projects
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support project planning and execution
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records throughout the estimating process
  • Support local site visits as needed using a company-provided vehicle
  • Qualifications
  • 5–7+ years of experience as a Structural Steel Estimator (required)
  • Strong proficiency in CAD, specifically within the structural steel industry
  • Experience with AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of structural steel detailing and construction methods
  • Proven ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints
  • Strong computer skills with comfort handling extensive documentation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Preferred Experience
  • Fabrication experience (preferred but not required)
  • Combined estimating and CAD operating background
  • Additional Requirements
  • Must pass a 5-panel drug screen
  • Local travel required (company vehicle provided for business use)
