Responsible for maintaining a timely flow – receipt and delivery - of medical/surgical and general supplies for all departments and services.

Duties

  • Transportation of medical/surgical and general supplies to and from all departments and services within the Centre.
  • Maintain departmental pick-ups and deliveries
  • Reorder, re-stock and deliver supplies and equipment to all nursing units and clinical departments to established quota levels
  • Process inventory transactions daily in the system
  • Receive and reconcile shipments from suppliers. Must wear approved safety toed shoes.
  • Perform housekeeping of storeroom
  • Fill requisitions for sterile and medical/surgical supplies on an as-needed basis for nursing units
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors including:
  • Compliance with the safety standards of the hospital and applicable legislation
  • Identification and prevention of safety issues and problems
  • Taking corrective action, where possible
  • Attend safety meetings/training/in-services in accordance with the Centre’s standards
  • At minimum completion of high school or recognized equivalent
  • Basic working experience using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English well; good mathematical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication  skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated initiative
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and within a team
  • Ability to set priorities and deal with fluctuating workloads
  • Evidence of good performance history and attendance record
  • Knowledge of Computerized inventory management systems is preferred 
  • Ability to operate manual lifting devices in a safe and efficient manner
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred
  • Previous experience working in a warehouse setting is preferred
