Storage & Data Protection Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Storage & Data Protection Engineer to support and optimize enterprise backup and storage infrastructure across mission-critical platforms. The role involves lifecycle management, capacity planning, incident response, and ensuring data availability across production, DR, and compliance environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise backup platforms including Veritas NetBackup

• Manage storage provisioning, configuration, and tuning across storage arrays (Dell EMC, VMAX, PMAX, Pure Storage)

• Monitor storage performance, capacity utilization, and service health

• Troubleshoot backup failures, restore requests, replication, and DR operations

• Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance for backup & storage systems

• Execute retention, archiving, and compliance policies based on business and regulatory needs

• Collaborate with compute, network, security, and application teams for integration and incident resolution

• Prepare technical documentation, performance reports, and capacity forecasts

• Participate in on-call support rotations for business-critical workloads

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–8+ years' experience in enterprise Storage / Backup / Platform Engineering

• Strong hands-on expertise with:
  - Veritas NetBackup (Backup Administration)
  - Dell EMC storage platforms (VMAX / PMAX)
  - Pure Storage arrays

• Experience in production & DR environments

• Understanding of SAN/NAS, Fibre Channel, zoning, LUN provisioning, and replication technologies

• Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem)

• Solid troubleshooting skills for hardware and software failures

• Experience with:

  • Cloud backup platforms

  • Snapshot & replication technologies

  • Storage automation & monitoring

• Certifications (preferred):

  • Veritas NetBackup Administrator

  • Dell EMC Storage Specialist

  • Pure Storage Certification

  • ITIL Foundation
