About the Stewardship Intern Role:

Sands Capital is seeking a motivated Stewardship Intern who will support the Stewardship Team in their work on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) research; data management; and proxy voting.

Our internship program serves to identify motivated and talented undergraduate students who will gain relevant skills and knowledge through the internship. The 2026 summer internship program will run from June 8 to August 14.

Work Expectations:

The work location for this role is Sands Capital’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia at a minimum of four days per week in-office (including Tuesdays and Wednesdays) or more as directed by your manager. Please know that the hybrid schedule is subject to change at any time.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Stewardship Team through the collection, organization, and validation of ESG-related data across the firm’s client base, including tracking client and consultant commitments related to net zero and other sustainability initiatives.
  • Conducting market and peer research on various ESG topics including climate transition, net zero commitments, and evolving stewardship practices.
  • Aggregating, standardizing, and cleaning historical proxy voting and proxy research data, helping to improve data quality, usability, and consistency.
  • Translating large datasets and research outputs into clear internal summaries, tables, and reference materials used by the Stewardship and broader Investment Team.
  • Drafting internal materials and communications, including summaries of stewardship activity, ESG trends, and portfolio-level metrics.
  • Participating in regular Stewardship Team meetings.
  • Drafting and sharing notes on relevant meetings and events attended.
  • Performing other administrative tasks and position responsibilities, as needed.

Position Qualifications:

  • 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate students interested in exploring a career in Finance and Sustainability.
  • A genuine and demonstrable interest in investment and ESG research.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with large datasets and process-driven tasks, with a commitment to accuracy and follow-through.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications, experience working with structured data is a plus.
  • Highly responsive, and able to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills, prioritization, and time management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to synthesize information into concise, well-organized outputs.
  • Fast learner with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Salary and Benefits:

Sands Capital offers competitive compensation. For this role, the hourly rate ranges from $25 - $35/hour and will be determined by the candidate’s grade level as well as relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Sands Capital may also offer generous benefits for interns who meet the relevant eligibility criteria as determined by Sands Capital’s benefit plan documents.
