Position Overview
This position is based in Trail, British Columbia. The successful candidate will support the development and execution of electrical engineering projects by contributing to sustainment and growth capital planning, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with regulatory and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of sustainment and growth capital by identifying project opportunities, assigning programs, and bundling related needs.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure proposed projects are safe, operable, maintainable, and aligned with engineering best practices.
- Organize and lead project planning meetings based on project scope and requirements.
- Work with project stakeholders to establish realistic schedules for class estimating deliverables, considering construction timelines and material procurement lead times.
- Manage internal and external communications to ensure clear, timely, and effective information flow.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with peers and cross-functional business units.
- Enter and maintain project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates within the Asset Investment Planning (AIP) tool.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of relevant technical education and project management experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in electrical engineering and project management within an electric utility, engineering, construction, or similar operating environment.
- Professional registration or eligibility (EIT, P.L. Eng., P.Eng., or equivalent) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices.
Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of station, transmission, and distribution components and their functions within an electrical utility environment.
- Understanding of regulatory processes applicable to electrical utilities in British Columbia.
- General knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering and construction concepts.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in engineering project management.
- Demonstrated experience with project processes and end-to-end project execution.
Skills and Qualifications
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in commonly used software, including AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office, Copperleaf or other AIP tools, and SharePoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of safe work practices, policies, and procedures, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
The compensation for this role is an hourly rate, Independent Contractor or Employee, $75-100/hour DOE. This role would be based in Trail, BC.
