Starter - Harness

Are you ready to race with RWWA?

Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) is in search of an exceptional Starter- Harness join our Team in a Permanent Part-Time position.

• Operate the mobile barrier to start Harness races and trials.
• Make recommendations to the Stewards with respect to disciplinary/remedial matters relating to horses.
• Review and establish Harness starting procedures in consultation with Stewards and stakeholders.
• Attendance at Industry forums to discuss and advise on starting matters.
• Oversee health and safety for all persons at the start.
• Liaise with MRF&RDO to ensure the correct number of barrier attendants are rostered for race meetings.

About you 

• Experience driving a motor vehicle under a variety of conditions.
• Experience starting mobile and standing start races and trials.
• Horse handling skills.
• Knowledge of harness racing.
• Knowledge of Rules of Racing.
• Knowledge and understanding of the racing and wagering industry would be an advantage.
• Ability to drive a variety of mobile starting vehicles.
• Extensive knowledge with harness gear.
• Ability to prioritise and control workload.
• Ability to work as part of a team, with or without supervision.
• Basic computer literacy skills – Microsoft Office / Windows environment.
• Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
• Completion of Year 10.
