Staff UX Researcher

AI overview

Lead user experience research strategies for the Merchant Experience Platform, influencing product direction through data-backed insights and partnerships with retail leaders.

Narvar is growing! We’re looking for an experienced Staff UX Researcher to take on a pivotal leadership role in shaping an evidence-driven product culture. This is a unique opportunity to solve complex, high-impact problems and redefine the foundational experiences that power Narvar's business for the world's most beloved brands.

In this role, you will be a strategic partner to the R&D leadership. You will be responsible for ensuring that Narvar’s most ambitious initiatives — from the global rollout of our Merchant Experience Platform to our expansion into transactional products — are grounded in deep, actionable customer intelligence. This is a role for a high-autonomy leader who thrives on building systems and influencing product direction through rigorous research and clear, data-backed narratives.

Day-to-day

  • Architect and implement a scalable Research Ops framework from the ground up — including participant recruitment, tool selection, and a centralized insights repository to ensure knowledge is shared, not siloed.
  • Lead the research strategy for the Merchant Experience Platform. You will validate designs during the build phase and lead the post-launch research to ensure a seamless migration for our global retail partners.
  • Partner with product leaders on 0-to-1 initiatives like Agentic Post-Purchase Experience, Track AI, and other new projects. You will conduct early-stage discovery to understand merchant pain points and consumer behaviors that drive revenue.
  • Scale our Design Partnership Program by establishing a direct line to our most strategic retail partners. You will create and manage a customer advisory framework that turns these retailers into co-creators of the Narvar roadmap.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the Senior Leadership, using data-backed insights to challenge assumptions and help shape the product roadmap.
  • Evangelize the value of research across Narvar. You will lead workshops, share insights in public forums, and mentor designers and PMs on how to conduct their own continuous discovery.

What we’re looking for

  • 8+ years of UX Research experience with a proven track record of building or maturing research functions within B2B2C SaaS environments.
  • You have experience building or significantly maturing a research function from scratch. You are comfortable with the “blank page” and know how to prioritize the most impactful work.
  • You have a portfolio that demonstrates success in both launching entirely new product categories and optimizing existing, high-traffic experiences.
  • You are an expert in mixed methods — from ethnographic field studies and longitudinal diary studies to usability testing and survey design.
  • You are comfortable with analyzing data to triangulate qualitative findings without relying on data engineering for foundational insights.
  • You can translate complex research findings into compelling narratives that resonate with C-suite stakeholders, Engineering leads, and Product Managers alike.
  • B2B Context: You understand the unique challenges of B2B research, including navigating “gatekeepers”, recruiting busy professionals, and balancing the needs of the buyer vs. user.
