Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Staff Tableau Administrator to manage and optimize our Tableau environments. You will be responsible for the health, performance, scalability, and security of Tableau Server - Cloud and On-Premises (Linux-based). This is a hands-on technical role focused on scaling, performance tuning, troubleshooting outages, optimizing queries, and enforcing Tableau best practices across the organization.​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain Tableau Server instances (Cloud + On-Prem Linux OS)
  • Proactive performance tuning of Tableau Servers and workbooks
  • Build and manage High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)
  • Implement multi-site security and user access controls
  • Monitor/troubleshoot resource usage, server outages, system failures
  • Optimize dashboard designs, extracts, and queries with development teams
  • Manage upgrades, patches, backups, recovery, and environment migrations
  • Analyze server logs/performance metrics to predict/prevent issues
  • Coordinate with IT/Cloud teams for infrastructure optimization
  • Serve as Tableau SME in architecture/strategy discussions
  • Maintain documentation of configurations, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides

 

Mandatory Skills:

  • 6+ years Tableau Server Administration (Linux deployments)
  • Hands-on Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) + On-Premises experience
  • Proven performance tuning, HA/DR, outage troubleshooting
  • Expert in PostgreSQL repo, Tabadmin/TSM, Tableau Services Manager
  • Workbook optimization (extracts, queries, load times)
  • Scripting (Bash/Python/PowerShell) for automation
  • Security models, governance, permissions management
  • Strong problem-solving with preventive mindset

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Server monitoring (New Relic/Datadog) integration
  • Tableau Certification (Server Associate/Specialist preferred)
  • Networking/security/cloud architectures
  • Basic SQL for backend troubleshooting
  • Snowflake/Salesforce data source experience
