Role Overview:
We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead development of core product features that directly impact millions of users. You'll set architectural direction for frontend systems, drive complex technical initiatives from concept through launch, and build polished, performant user experiences backed by scalable systems. This is a senior technical leadership role where you'll shape engineering standards, mentor the team, and work closely with product, design, and engineering leaders to deliver exceptional experiences at scale.
This is a hybrid position (2 days/week onsite) based in Seattle, WA.
What You'll Do:
Lead end-to-end development of major features across the full stack, with emphasis on frontend architecture and user experience
Set architectural direction for frontend systems and drive technical strategy across multiple teams
Build polished, accessible, and performant user interfaces that serve millions of users
Design and evolve UI component systems and frontend infrastructure
Create seamless user experiences across web platforms
Build and integrate with backend APIs and services
Champion frontend architecture, performance, and accessibility best practices
Partner with product and design leaders to translate customer needs into elegant, scalable technical solutions
Drive technical decision-making and execution on complex, cross-functional initiatives
Define and evolve engineering standards, architecture patterns, and tooling
Mentor engineers across the organization and help build a strong engineering culture focused on quality and growth
Make smart tradeoffs between shipping quickly and building for the long term
Improve component libraries, testing strategies, and frontend development workflows
Optimize application performance, accessibility, and reliability
Requirements:
8+ years of professional software engineering experience with proven leadership on high-impact projects
Strong track record of driving technical direction and architecture across multiple teams
Deep frontend expertise with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Next.js
Expert-level understanding of modern frontend architecture, performance optimization, and accessibility
Solid fullstack capabilities including experience with backend technologies (Java, Kotlin, Node.js, REST/GraphQL APIs, databases, cloud platforms)
Proven ability to ship complete features end-to-end in production environments
Strong product thinking and focus on user experience
Experience mentoring engineers and growing technical capabilities across teams
Excellent at collaborating across functions and communicating technical decisions to diverse audiences
Comfortable in fast-moving environments where priorities shiftv
Nice to Have:
Background working with high-traffic consumer applications
Experience building or contributing to design systems and large-scale UI infrastructure
Familiarity with A/B testing, analytics, and data-driven product development
Deep knowledge of CI/CD practices, monitoring tools, and production operations
Previous work in fintech, PropTech, or marketplace platforms
Compensation & Benefits:
Base Salary: $230,000 - $270,000
