About the role

This role serve as a Staff Engineer providing technical leadership across backend, DevOps, and platform engineering. Design and scale secure, high-availability systems, define architecture standards, lead CI/CD and AWS infrastructure, collaborate cross-functionally, own system lifecycles, mentor engineers, and continuously improve reliability, performance, security, and developer productivity.

What you'll do 

• Serve as a Staff Engineer providing technical leadership across backend, DevOps, and platform engineering initiatives.
• Design, build, and evolve scalable backend systems and APIs, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
• Define and drive architecture standards across services, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines.
• Lead the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, enabling reliable, automated builds and deployments.
• Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Partner with Product, Frontend, Security, and SRE teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of systems, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
• Provide hands-on support for production issues, root-cause analysis, and long-term remediation.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, conducting design reviews and promoting engineering best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement in system reliability, performance, security, and developer productivity.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Strong backend engineering experience with Java, Kotlin, Node.js, or similar modern backend technologies.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, including microservices architecture, event-driven systems, scalability, and data consistency.
• Proven experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
• Extensive experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, EKS, ECS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, IAM).
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
• Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing) and production monitoring.
• Solid understanding of security best practices, including secrets management, IAM, and compliance.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Frontend or full-stack experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex, cross-system issues.

What qualifications will you need to be successful?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant experience in backend and DevOps/platform roles.
• Demonstrated ability to influence architecture and technical direction across multiple teams.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to operate independently while driving alignment in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Proven ability to rapidly understand existing systems and improve them pragmatically and sustainably.
