Staff Product Marketing Manager

New York , United States

AI overview

Define and execute marketing strategies that align with MongoDB's long-term goals, leveraging cross-functional collaboration to influence and drive consensus.

As a Staff Product Marketing Manager, you are in a high-impact role responsible for critical product areas and strategic initiatives. You aren’t just executing a roadmap. You are defining the marketing strategy for your area by focusing on the large-scale business picture. You will navigate high degrees of ambiguity to deliver results independently, serving as a strategic partner to leaders across the business. The right candidate can dive deep into data and technical details while simultaneously conveying high-level strategies to the executive team.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Product Marketing, you will work with leaders across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to build go-to-market (GTM) strategies and successfully assemble cross-functional teams to execute derivative marketing and enablement tactics. You will act as a key partner to senior leadership to influence and drive consensus with teams across the company.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in New York City, NY for our hybrid working model.

What You'll Do

  • Own Strategy & Execution: Act as the directly responsible individual for high-impact product areas, defining end-to-end marketing and enablement strategies that align with MongoDB’s long-term business goals
  • Drive GTM Excellence: Develop data-driven GTM strategies including positioning, messaging, and persona development. You will advise teams on the best marketing and enablement techniques to persuade diverse audiences
  • Solve Complex Problems: Identify and decompose intrinsically hard problems within the business. You will pressure-test strategic assumptions, identify gaps in GTM motions, and drive cross-functional consensus
  • Act as a Strategic Consultant: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders. You will be expected to present clear plans, narratives, and risk assessments that influence the direction of the organization
  • Mentor and Amplify: Raise the bar for the entire Product Marketing organization by sharing best practices, streamlining processes, and aligning all work to business objectives. You will actively mentor other team members to accelerate their growth

We’re Excited About You Because

  • Proven experience in product marketing, preferably in B2B technology, cloud, or enterprise software, with a strong track record of success
  • A demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, where you are given a high-level business outcome to achieve, and trusted to develop and execute the strategy
  • Proven ability to bring strong, data-driven judgment to decisions, with a keen ability to assess risk tradeoffs and drive clarity
  • Consensus-building and high-bar communication (both verbal and written), capable of influencing the priorities of cross-functional teams and senior leaders. You should be excited to deliver your perspectives and progress to the senior leadership team
  • Deep understanding of the fundamentals of technology (ideally databases, cloud infrastructure, the developer landscape, and how they are connected to new technologies like generative AI) and can effectively connect a product area to its business impact. This role is not expected to be a technical practitioner, but must develop the technical depth necessary to effectively market MongoDB’s offerings and communicate with practitioners
  • Genuine empathy for customer challenges and pain points, with the ability to understand the common use cases and implementation specifics that customers are facing
  • A strong bias for action and the ability to decompose complex problems into effective solutions and drive execution cross-functionally
  • Excellent judgment and comfortable navigating executive-level escalations
  • Ability to effectively represent the company as a subject matter expert in executive-level customer calls, analyst briefings, and public appearances
