Gantri
Staff Manufacturing Engineer
TLDR
This highly hands-on role will focus on scaling and industrializing additive manufacturing processes and significantly improving operational efficiency.
Company
Gantri is building the next generation of digital manufacturing for design. We enable designers and brands to create high-quality, sustainable products significantly faster and more flexibly than traditional manufacturing.
Gantri operates one of the world’s largest production 3D printing farms for consumer lighting and manufactures products on-demand at our Digital Factory in California. Our vertically integrated manufacturing platform combines additive manufacturing, advanced finishing, coatings, automation, process engineering, and software-driven operations to reimagine how products are made at scale.
As we aggressively scale production capacity, we are investing heavily in manufacturing systems, labor efficiency, and factory industrialization across printing, sanding, priming, painting, inspection, curing, and material flow operations.
Role
We are seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer who is deeply technical, highly practical, and relentlessly focused on improving manufacturing systems at scale.
This is not a traditional sustaining manufacturing engineering role. This is a highly hands-on, high-impact manufacturing systems role focused on scaling and industrializing real-world additive manufacturing and finishing operations.
You will work directly on the factory floor to identify bottlenecks, redesign workflows, improve manufacturability, increase throughput, reduce labor content, and help build the future operating model for Gantri manufacturing.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable diagnosing print failures, redesigning sanding workflows, developing tooling and fixtures, optimizing coating processes, improving production flow, and leading large-scale process improvement initiatives under aggressive timelines and constrained resources.
This role will directly influence Gantri’s ability to dramatically improve manufacturing efficiency and scale our next-generation digital manufacturing platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Improve throughput, uptime, reliability, and manufacturability across large-scale 3D printing operations
Optimize print workflows, printer utilization, maintenance systems, and production readiness
Develop scalable operational standards for high-volume additive manufacturing
Lead major improvements in sanding, priming, painting, coating, curing, and cosmetic finishing operations
Reduce labor content while improving surface quality and process consistency
Design scalable finishing workflows, tooling, fixtures, and workstations
Identify and execute high-impact labor reduction opportunities across production operations
Improve factory flow, ergonomics, material handling, staging, and production sequencing
Drive measurable gains in throughput, cycle time, yield, and staffing efficiency
Develop robust manufacturing processes capable of scaling with production growth
Establish process controls, SOPs, validation methods, and engineering standards
Lead root cause analysis and rapid problem solving for complex manufacturing issues
Operate as a senior technical leader across manufacturing operations
Mentor engineers and technicians
Help prioritize and execute critical scaling initiatives under aggressive timelines and constrained resources
Analyze production data to identify trends, surface bottlenecks, and prioritize improvement opportunities across printing, finishing, and inspection
Build and operational dashboards and reports that translate raw factory data into actionable insights
Work with structured datasets (Google Sheets, Python, or similar) to model throughput, yield, cycle time, and labor efficiency
Develop data-driven feedback loops between process changes and measurable production outcomes
What We're Looking For:
8+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience
Strong experience in process-intensive manufacturing environments
Proven ability to scale complex production operations
Excellent mechanical/process engineering intuition
Strong factory-floor execution mindset
Ability to independently identify and drive high-leverage improvements
Comfortable operating in fast-moving, highly ambiguous environments
Comfort working with production datasets to identify trends and drive decisions (Google Sheets proficiency at minimum; Python/pandas or similar a plus)
Experience building operational metrics, tracking systems, or manufacturing dashboards
Additive manufacturing / 3D printing experience
Finishing, coating, paint, sanding, polishing, or cosmetic manufacturing experience
Experience with high-mix, low-volume manufacturing
Startup or rapid-scaling manufacturing experience
Fixture, tooling, and workstation design experience
Experience improving labor-intensive manufacturing operations
