Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Our Accessibility Intelligence team pushes the state of the art for accessibility through applied research and development in risk modeling, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. As a Staff ML Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in owning, designing, implementing, and optimizing foundational machine learning algorithms and models which drive multiple products within our company. The Staff ML Engineer will be working closely with Platform Engineering, Product Engineering, and Product peers to help us solve digital accessibility at scale.

How you’ll Contribute:

  • Architect Production ML Systems: Design scalable and robust machine learning systems, ensuring efficient data pipelines, model training, evaluation, and deployment that meet production requirements
  • Data Exploration and Preprocessing: Collaborate with data engineers to preprocess and transform large-scale datasets, ensuring data quality, feature extraction, and effective feature engineering
  • Model Training and Evaluation: Create and implement robust methodologies for training, testing, and evaluating machine learning models, using appropriate metrics and validation techniques to ensure high-quality results
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize machine learning models and algorithms to improve performance, scalability, and computational efficiency, considering factors such as memory utilization, runtime, and latency
  • Leadership: Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical expertise, code reviews, and best practices in machine learning engineering
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of machine learning systems, algorithms, and experiments, and effectively communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences

 

Who you are:

  • Education: A master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered
  • Experience: 5+ years of industry experience working on production ML implementations
  • Expertise in Machine Learning: Proven track record in designing and implementing machine learning algorithms, models, and systems, with expertise in areas such as deep learning, transfer learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, or computer vision
  • Programming Skills: Expert-level proficiency with Python and familiarity with other programming languages such as R, or Java. Deep experience utilizing ML libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
  • Technical Experience: Extensive experience in data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, hyperparameter tuning, and model evaluation. Familiarity with cloud platforms, distributed computing frameworks, AutoML, and machine learning operations is a plus
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Salary: $190,000 - $230,000
