Agility Robotics is a pioneer. Our robot, Digit, is the first to be sold into workplaces across the globe. Our team is differentiated by its expertise in imagining, engineering, and delivering robots with advanced mobility, dexterity, intelligence, and efficiency -- robots specifically designed to work alongside people, in spaces built for people. Every day, we break through engineering challenges and invent new solutions and capabilities that will one day make robots commonplace and approachable. This work is our passion and our responsibility: our mission is to make businesses more productive and people’s lives more fulfilling.
About the Role
As a Staff Global Supplier Manager – Electromechanical Systems, you will lead the global sourcing and commodity strategy for critical motion and power-transmission components within Agility Robotics’ humanoid platforms. You will own categories such as motors, gearboxes, actuators, solenoids, fans, and integrated sub-assemblies, ensuring robust supply assurance, cost competitiveness, and scalability from prototype to mass production.
This role requires a strategic sourcing leader with deep understanding of electromechanical manufacturing processes, cost structures, and global supply dynamics. You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Product teams to influence design choices, qualify key suppliers, and build a resilient global supply base that supports Agility’s rapid scale-up.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for electromechanical commodities, including actuators, gearboxes, motors, solenoids, fans, and motion assemblies.
- Collaborate with Engineering early in the design phase to influence component selection, evaluate manufacturability, and balance cost, quality, and performance.
- Lead supplier identification, qualification, and performance management, focusing on suppliers with precision machining, winding, and assembly capabilities.
- Build long-term supplier partnerships, driving continuous improvement in cost, quality, and delivery.
- Apply cost modeling and clean-sheet analysis to establish cost transparency and identify savings opportunities.
- Negotiate complex supplier agreements, encompassing commercial terms, quality standards, and delivery requirements.
- Drive cost-reduction and value-engineering efforts by collaborating with Engineering and suppliers on design optimization.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure timely sourcing, tooling readiness, and ramp alignment with program milestones.
- Develop risk-mitigation and dual-sourcing strategies across critical commodities and suppliers.
- Mentor Global Supply Managers, building organizational capability in sourcing strategy, cost modeling, and supplier management.
- Own the sourcing SPOR (Supplier Plan of Record) and ensure on-time, on-cost, and on-spec component delivery through close collaboration with CMs/JDMs/ODMs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field; advanced degree (MBA or MS) preferred.
- 8+ years of procurement or supply-chain experience, with at least 5+ years focused on electromechanical or mechanical commodities (motors, actuators, gearboxes, motion systems, etc.).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, die casting, injection molding, motor winding, and assembly.
- Proven track record in supplier development, technical cost analysis, and contract negotiation.
- Experience managing contract manufacturers and build-to-print suppliers for precision or motion components.
- Deep understanding of design-to-cost principles, NPI sourcing, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering and Operations.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, cost-tracking, and supplier performance metrics.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 35%).
