Staff Full-Stack Engineer - Migrations Engineering

Reno, NV

Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for backend scalability, data pipelines, and solving challenges at scale? Do you thrive when leading complex architectural efforts that power business-critical systems? Are you excited to build AI-integrated solutions that redefine what’s possible in ETL and large-scale data transformation? If so, we invite you to join our innovative team.

Ridgeline’s Migrations Engineering team enables efficient, scalable data movement across our cloud-native platform. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll take ownership of high-throughput ingestion and transformation services responsible for processing large volumes of financial data. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across product, implementation, and infrastructure teams to ensure reliability, performance, and alignment with evolving customer needs. You’ll also partner with Ridgeline’s AI Platform team and leverage tools like ChatGPT and Cursor to improve developer productivity, accelerate delivery, and elevate code quality across the stack.

At Ridgeline, how we work matters as much as what we build. Ridgeliners act like owners, choose growth over comfort, and communicate with transparency. We assume positive intent, bias toward action, and bring solutions—not just problems. We celebrate wins, learn from setbacks, and thrive in a resilient, collaborative, high-performing culture. If the Ridgeline Way excites you, we’d love to meet you.

The Impact You Will Make:

  • Own and evolve high-throughput data ingest services that normalize raw customer data and enforce schema and business-rule validations
  • Design and deliver a next-generation Transform Engine supporting conditional branching, parallel execution paths, and schema-driven transformations at scale
  • Scale ingestion pipelines to reliably process multi-million-row files and orchestrate ingests for hundreds of tenants, while enforcing per-tenant concurrency limits
  • Mentor and guide engineers through complex, high-impact technical initiatives
  • Collaborate with product managers to estimate effort, prioritize features, and align technical design with business goals
  • Optimize backend systems for performance, reliability, and maintainability in a distributed AWS environment
  • Write high-quality code and automated tests, and produce thorough design and code reviews
  • Promote a culture of learning, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Apply modern engineering practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability
  • Leverage AI tools such as ChatGPT and Cursor to improve code quality, productivity, and design clarity

What We Look For:

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a demonstrated record of architecting and delivering full-stack solutions
  • Proficiency in Kotlin or equivalent languages
  • Front-end experience
  • Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Strong understanding of system design, automated testing, and scalable architecture
  • Proficiency with SQL or other database technologies
  • Experience with data ingest, data pipelining, or ETL workflows
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to guide projects while also contributing as an individual engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Creative problem-solving mindset and a desire to elevate the people around you
  • Passion for building collaborative, inclusive engineering teams
  • Ability to work effectively with APIs and metadata
  • Comfortable working in-person and seamlessly collaborating with remote teammates

  • Familiarity with the investment management or FinTech domain
  • Hands-on experience with modern AI tools or frameworks that support software development
