Staff Engineer (Data Modeler)

Must have Skills : AWS Glue, Metadata MGT tool, Data modeling tools, Semantic layer tools, Knowledge graph frameworks 

Key Responsibilities

Data Modeling
o Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).
o Implement dimensional modeling for analytical layers.
o Apply Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD2) and historical tracking techniques.
o Define and enforce naming conventions, metadata standards, and maintain model documentation.
Semantic Layer & Ontologies
o Design and implement a semantic layer to enable business-friendly data access and self-service analytics.
o Work with advanced AI-tooling for semantic layer deployment and integration.
o Develop and maintain ontologies and taxonomies to standardize business concepts across domains.
o Ensure semantic consistency across data products and reporting layers.
Knowledge Graph Development
o Build and maintain knowledge graphs to represent relationships between entities and enable advanced data discovery.
o Integrate knowledge graph capabilities with Lakehouse metadata and lineage tools (e.g., OpenMetadata).
o Collaborate with architects and platform engineers to ensure graph scalability and performance.
Collaboration & Governance
o Work closely with Data Architects to align models with Lakehouse design principles.
o Partner with Data Engineers to ensure models are correctly implemented in Glue and Iceberg tables.
o Collaborate with Data Quality teams to embed validation rules and ensure compliance.
Optimization & Standards
o Ensure models support schema evolution, partitioning strategies, and performance optimization.
o Create reusable modeling templates and best practices for Data Factory squads. 

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise
o Strong experience in data modeling for Lakehouse or data warehouse environments.
o Proficiency in semantic layer design, ontologies, and knowledge graph development.
o Familiarity with AWS Glue, Apache Iceberg, and Medallion architecture.
o Understanding of metadata management and lineage tools (OpenMetadata preferred).
Tools & Technologies
o Data modeling tools (ERwin, PowerDesigner, or similar).
o Semantic layer tools (e.g., Zaimler, AtScale, or equivalent).
o Knowledge graph frameworks (e.g., RDF, OWL, Neo4j, or similar).
Soft Skills
o Strong analytical and conceptual thinking.
o Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
o Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver aggressive migration targets.
o Strong collaboration and communication skills.
o Work with Jira and agile way of working.
