Staff Engineer

We are seeking a Staff Engineer to drive the technical vision and execution of our platforms in Casablanca. As a key member of the Agile Scrum team, you will provide strong hands-on leadership, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and scalable solutions across A2MAC1’s software ecosystem.

In this role, you’ll guide the development team through technical decisions, mentor engineers, and work closely with Product Owners and Solution Architects to deliver robust software products. This is a strategic, hands-on position that combines architecture, development, and team coaching to ensure long-term success and sustainability.

You will report directly to the Hub Engineering Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Leadership & Hands-on Expertise

• Lead by example through hands-on coding, technical design, and mentoring
• Design robust, reusable, and scalable backend architectures in Python
• Contribute to technical consistency with frontend frameworks (e.g. Angular)
• Champion coding standards, software engineering best practices, and team performance
• Drive the adoption of modern technologies and platform architecture evolution

Team Organization & Sprint Execution

• Organize and support the team’s development process, from onboarding to daily guidance
• Decompose features into clear, actionable, and well-documented stories
• Define implementation strategies and lead sprint planning & execution
• Ensure delivery commitments and quality standards are consistently met
• Monitor progress and continuously optimize team performance

Code Quality & Technical Excellence

• Enforce code quality through rigorous reviews and sound technical decisions
• Maintain high standards for performance, scalability, resilience, and security
• Support developers through standups, reviews, capacity planning
• Promote transparency around trade-offs, risks, and technical challenges

Collaboration & Influence

• Work closely with Product Owners and Solution Architects
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers
• Encourage cross-functional collaboration across teams
• Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation

Requirements

PROFILE & SKILLS

Must-Have

• Proven experience as a technical leader in web-based platforms
• Strong background in backend development with Python
• Solid understanding of frontend technologies and microservice architectures
• Deep knowledge of software engineering best practices, design patterns, and testing strategies
• Experience with cloud technologies (e.g. Azure, containerization, microservices)
• Familiarity with Agile methods and CI/CD pipelines (preferably Azure DevOps)
• Ability to translate complex requirements into scalable solutions
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent
