Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Staff Data Engineer to join the Regulatory Data Core Squad, working alongside Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, business stakeholders, and the Data Platform team to design and deliver scalable data solutions for regulatory and compliance reporting.

In this role, you will lead the technical design and architecture of regulatory data solutions, defining how data is modeled, transformed, and delivered for regulatory use cases. You will guide engineering decisions within the squad, mentor engineers, and ensure high standards in data modeling, pipeline design, and data quality.

This role focuses on domain-level data architecture and solution delivery, leveraging the infrastructure and ingestion layers provided by the Data Platform team.

We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, capable of delivering quick-win MVP solutions while defining scalable long-term data architectures.

Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Define the data architecture and modeling strategy for the Regulatory domain, ensuring scalability, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Design end-to-end domain data solutions, including transformation layers, curated datasets, and data consumption models.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers.
  • Ensure solutions align with company-wide data platform standards and collaborate closely with the Data Platform team.

Data Modeling & Pipeline Development

  • Design and implement scalable data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) using PySpark and advanced SQL.
  • Build and maintain data transformation pipelines and curated datasets to support regulatory reporting and analytics.
  • Work with datasets ingested and managed by the Data Platform team, transforming them into reliable regulatory data products.
  • Develop batch and streaming pipelines using Spark, Airflow, Kafka, and Databricks.

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead complex data initiatives, driving technical design and delivery across teams.
  • Produce technical specifications and architecture documentation for data solutions.
  • Break down complex problems into incremental deliveries, prioritizing MVPs and quick wins with a clear evolution roadmap.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and compliance stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements into technical solutions.

Engineering Practices

  • Implement best practices for pipeline modularization, testing, CI/CD, version control, and observability.

Promote standards for data quality, documentation, and maintainable data pipelines.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Data Engineering and Data Architecture in cloud environments (AWS).
  • Strong expertise in data modeling, PySpark, and advanced SQL.
  • Experience building batch and streaming data pipelines using tools such as Spark, Airflow, Kafka, and Databricks.
  • Experience working with data lakehouse architectures (Delta Lake, Redshift or similar).
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and regulatory data requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with centralized Data Platform teams and working within shared data infrastructure environments.
  • Strong technical leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
