Staff Data Engineer/Data Architect

Summary: 

Orfium is seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Architect/Engineer to spearhead a critical initiative: building and implementing our company-wide master data model. This pivotal role will be instrumental in shaping our data strategy and act as a critical technical leader in the revamp of our federated governance framework. You will play a key role in the evolution of our Data Platform services, ensuring their scalability, robustness and meeting of growing business needs. The ideal candidate brings a strategic mindset,  possesses strong data architecture, modeling and software engineering skills, has experience with Cloud Providers and their services, and can demonstrate strong communication and leadership abilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate strong business acumen - map business logic to data.
• Contribute and shape the company’s data strategy.
• Lead the strategic initiative of creating a master Data Model in Orfium.
• Work with the stream-aligned teams to optimize data structure design and improve data flow.
• Technical leader in revamping federated governance, shaping company-wide data policies.
• Ensure data solutions are built for performance, are scalable, and cost efficient.
• Contribute to the growth of Data Engineer and mentor engineers to optimize analytical workflows.
• Establish data platform best practices, including tool standardization.

Qualifications:

• BSc degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in data engineering and 3 years in a tech leadership role.
• Strategic thinking and planning skills.
• Budgeting and resource management skills for data architecture initiatives.
• Proven ability to design efficiently complex data models and platform data layers.
• Strong technical skills in data architecture, and engineering.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including understanding of how to build data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
