This role’s mission & overview: We are looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data team to lead the design and implementation of a new data architecture powering critical customer-facing AI features. This person will play a key role in the future of the data and AI strategy of the company, and will design and implement data architecture best practices across the organization. They will also instill a culture of fast experimentation and iteration through fast feedback loops with customers, while keeping long-term vision and architecture in mind. They will provide mentorship and strong collaboration on data architectures and best practices across the entire technology organization.

This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role for someone who thrives on solving hard technical problems that unlock a whole new class of valuable features for customers, while being in close collaboration with people across the technology organization.

As a Staff Data Engineer on our Data team, you will:

  • Define the architecture for an AI-ready data platform, including data modeling, orchestration, transformation, serving, metadata, and governance.
  • Partner with Product to design and implement AI-powered features that delight customers and bring Campminder to the forefront of technical innovation in the space
  • Partner with Engineering management and architects to define and roll out AI-first data engineering best practices on the Data team and on adjacent teams
  • Mentor engineers and raise the company’s bar for data platform design, not just implementation

We think a successful candidate will bring:

  • Experience architecting and implementing data systems for use with AI at scale
  • Experience balancing short-term experimentation with long-term platform maintainability.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and set technical direction beyond a single team.
  • Passion for mentoring others and rolling out data engineering best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous customer problems into durable data and AI platform capabilities.
  • Experience with AI tooling to significantly accelerate engineering work
  • Deep experience with cloud data platforms, including relational and analytical storage, and sound judgment about when to use warehouse, lakehouse, streaming, or serving-layer patterns.

We welcome and encourage applications from people with these identities or members of other historically marginalized groups.

Research shows that women and people of color tend not to apply to jobs unless they believe they are 100% qualified and apply to fewer senior-level positions. With that in mind, we encourage you to apply if you're not sure whether you meet our qualifications. We'd love to have the opportunity to consider you!
