Job Purpose

Hardware application engineer role for DC-DC converters in server, telecom, and industrial applications. Products include both digital and analog converters. Own subsystem-level validation of functionality, telemetry, and digital control features. Develop validation plans, hardware, and execute tests including stress and corner cases. Collaborate with product line systems, design and validation engineers to ensure robust validation and integration into customer designs. Work with customers to support with usage of Renesas products.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with product line system, design and validation engineers to develop evaluation board validation plans.
  • Design and develop test hardware for high-current buck converter validation.
  • Create and maintain test automation scripts for PMBus telemetry and control.
  • Debug and resolve hardware, firmware, and silicon issues related switching and linear converters.
  • Interactions with internal marketing/sales teams and customers for support on existing and new products.
  • Develop application notes, calculators and reference designs for server and telecom power architectures.
  • Perform efficiency, thermal, transient response & other electrical characterization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with 5+ years experience.
  • Strong expertise in power electronics, switching regulators, control theory, and PMBus protocol.
  • Hands-on experience with PCB schematics/layout and CAD tools.
  • Familiarity with power integrity analysis and simulation tools (PSpice, Simplis, MATLAB).
  • Experience with EMI/ESD compliance and thermal management

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Proven track record in new product validation for power converters.
  • Ability to design and maintain electrical test benches for high-current DC/DC converters.
  • Execute validation and characterization of mixed-signal ICs per validation plans.
  • Skilled in power integrity simulations, schematic design, and layout optimization.
  • Proficient with lab equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, power analyzer, bode analyzer).
  • Strong communication, technical presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Results-oriented and able to deliver under tight schedules.
