ABOUT THE ROLE:

We're seeking a Staff AI Engineer to join our growing team and help build the next generation of AI-powered SaaS solutions. This role requires a unique blend of backend engineering excellence and cutting-edge AI expertise to deliver production-ready, scalable AI features that directly impact our customers.

You will be at the forefront, developing cutting-edge solutions to automate procurement workflows. You will work alongside our engineers to automate workflows with AI. If you’re passionate about diving deep into data, revel in both the glamorous and gritty aspects of AI/ML, and want to make a significant impact on our product, this role is for you.

WHAT YOU’LL BE WORKING ON:

• Build AI-Powered Features: Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI applications that solve real customer problems, from concept to deployment

• Architect Scalable Systems: Create robust backend architectures that support AI workloads, ensuring low latency, high reliability, and seamless integration with existing services

• Drive AI Innovation: Implement and optimize agentic AI systems, RAG pipelines, and multi-agent workflows using modern LLM frameworks

• Own the Full Stack: Take end-to-end ownership of features, from database design and API development to AI model integration and monitoring

• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with product, design, and data teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Optimize and Iterate: Run experiments, A/B tests, and evaluations to continuously improve AI system performance and user experience

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a significant portion of that focussed on AI/ML, building and deploying AI features in production environments

• AI & ML: Deep understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG architectures, vector databases (Databricks/pgVector), and agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, Google ADK, or similar)

• Strong Python expertise with modern frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django) and microservice architecture patterns

• Cloud & DevOps: Experience with AWS/GCP/Azure, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines

• Data Processing: Strong foundation in statistical methods, data pipelines, and ETL processes

• Experimentation Mindset: Experience with A/B testing, evaluation frameworks, and hypothesis-driven development to validate AI features

• Quality-Focused: Deep commitment to code quality, testing, monitoring, and observability in AI systems

• Adaptable & Fast Learner: Comfortable navigating ambiguity and rapidly adopting new AI technologies and methodologies

• Collaborative: Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with model fine-tuning, RLHF, or custom model training

  • Knowledge of frontend frameworks (React) for full-stack contributions is a plus.

  • Familiarity with MLOps practices, tools and metrics (MLflow, Precision & Recall, etc.)

  • Background in specific domains like NLP, multi-modal LLM, or document processing

  • Open-source contributions or technical writing/speaking experience

  • Experience with real-time AI systems or streaming data architectures

• Maintains a professional and current LinkedIn profile, ensuring it is updated upon joining Procurify to reflect their new role and maintain a consistent company presence.

• Base Salary Range: $182,000- $220,000 CAD (This range is dependent on experience and not inclusive of any bonus, commission, benefits or equity that might exist in your total compensation package.)
