The Staff Accountant will support the accounting function with a strong focus on U.S. GAAP compliance and SOX internal controls. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, contributing to accurate financial reporting, month-end close, and ongoing control activities in a U.S.-based environment.
📍 Location: Providencia, Guadalajara, Mexico (3 days per week in the office)

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls, including documentation, testing, and remediation support
- Participate in internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests
- Review transactions to ensure accuracy, proper classification, and adherence to accounting policies
- Support AP and AR activities as needed, including accruals and reviews
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and timely reporting
- Identify process improvement opportunities related to accounting and internal controls
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5-8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a U.S.-based or multinational environment
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Hands-on experience with SOX compliance and internal controls
- Experience with month-end close and general ledger accounting
- Proficiency in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar preferred)
- Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal)
- Exposure to audits (internal or external)
