About This Role

Our Accounting team is seeking an entrepreneurial-minded Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of the Family Office by handling day-to-day accounting activities across multiple entities, including operating companies, investment vehicles, trusts, and personal accounts. This role requires strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a confidential environment.

In this position, you will report to the Director of Accounting. This role is based in our Santa Monica HQ and is hybrid (3 days in the office). 

What You’ll Do

  • Perform monthly checking, brokerage and credit card account reconciliations
  • Process accounts payable, including vendor management and expense reimbursements
  • Maintain general ledger for multiple entities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare internal management reports and assist in preparation of financial statements
  • Support cash management, budgeting, and forecasting activities
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and prepare monthly accruals
  • Manage loan schedules and interest calculation
  • 1099 preparation and filing
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and confidentiality standards
  • Provide support to the team for ad hoc projects and analysis

Requirements

What You Bring

  • A high-level of professionalism and integrity in dealing with confidential issues.
  • Ability to quickly obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the various financial reporting and general ledger structures.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Ability to stay organized and meet key target dates and produce deliverables.
  • Ability to identify problems and engage in problem-solving.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Must be a strong collaborator among peer groups within the company.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

 

Your Education and Experience

  • 2-3 years of accounting experience
  • Exposure to trusts, partnerships, or investment accounting
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in accounting and/or finance
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting
  • Proficiency in accounting software Sage Intacct is preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and organizational skills

The expected salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience. In addition to the base salary, employees are eligible for a performance bonus and will receive a comprehensive benefits package:
