Staff Accountant

AI overview

Support core accounting operations and improve processes while working closely with senior team members to enhance the financial operations at Iris Telehealth.

Who You Are

You are a detail-oriented, dependable accountant who takes pride in getting the fundamentals right. You enjoy bringing structure to processes, keeping things organized, and ensuring work is accurate, timely, and complete. You value clarity, consistency, and follow-through, and you know that strong accounting foundations enable better decisions across the business.

You thrive in environments that are growing with intention, where change is driven by learning, alignment, and continuous improvement rather than urgency. You ask thoughtful questions, communicate clearly, and approach your work with a mindset of continuous learning. You care about doing things the right way and take ownership of the work you’re responsible for.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Staff Accountant at Iris Telehealth, you will support the core accounting operations that keep our business running smoothly. You’ll focus on executing day-to-day accounting activities with accuracy and consistency while partnering closely with senior members of the Accounting team to support month-end close, maintain clean records, and improve processes as we scale.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and ensuring documentation is accurate and complete
  • Own key transactional accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit cards, billing, cash application, and vendor management
  • Monitor transactions for accuracy and completeness, researching discrepancies and partnering with internal stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Assist with financial reporting, variance review, and basic financial analysis to support visibility into operating expenses
  • Maintain accounting inboxes and shared workflows, ensuring timely and professional responses
  • Help document, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and controls
  • Contribute to special projects and process improvements as the Accounting function evolves

What Success Looks Like

Within 3 months: You have a strong understanding of Iris’s accounting processes, systems, and close cadence. You’re reliably executing your core responsibilities, producing accurate work, and building trust with the Accounting team and cross-functional partners.

Within 6 months: You operate independently across your areas of ownership, proactively identify issues or inefficiencies, and contribute meaningfully to smoother close cycles and cleaner financial data.

Within 12 months: You are seen as a dependable, detail-driven contributor who consistently delivers high-quality work, supports process improvements, and demonstrates strong judgment aligned with Iris’s values.

What You'll Bring

You might be a great fit for this role if you:

  • Have 1–3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field; however, demonstrated skills, behaviors, and readiness to take ownership matter more to us than a specific number of years.
  • Bring hands-on experience supporting core accounting processes such as AP, AR, reconciliations, and month-end close in Sage Intacct
  • Are comfortable working with accounting systems and spreadsheets, with strong attention to detail
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with both finance and non-finance partners
  • Can manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a growing, remote environment
  • Take ownership of your work and follow through consistently

A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is helpful, but we’re most interested in your skills, capabilities, and ability to learn and grow in the role.
