This position is designed for an accounting professional who enjoys working with small business clients while handling both bookkeeping and tax-related assignments in a professional services environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update client general ledger accounts by recording financial transactions with precision
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and weekly reconciliation of bank, credit card, and operating accounts
  • Assist in preparing payroll tax filings, including Forms 941, 1099, W-2, and related compliance documents
  • Examine transaction activity to verify accuracy, completeness, and proper classification
  • Prepare financial reports, statements, and supporting schedules while correcting discrepancies when needed
  • Organize workpapers and maintain structured documentation for audit and review purposes
  • Post adjusting entries such as depreciation, amortization, and investment activity
  • Support budgeting initiatives and generate performance reports comparing budget versus actual results
  • Respond to client inquiries promptly and provide accounting guidance as needed
  • Work cooperatively with team members to enhance service efficiency and internal procedures

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in public accounting or client service accounting environments
  • Strong foundation in financial statement preparation and general ledger management
  • Practical experience using QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online platforms
  • Familiarity with UltraTax software and entity tax return preparation
  • Exposure to Accounting CS, Practice CS, Creative Solutions applications, or FileCabinet CS is preferred
  • Knowledge of payroll administration, payroll reporting, and benefits processing
  • Understanding of internal control practices and nonprofit accounting concepts is a plus
  • Comfortable operating within cloud-based accounting and workflow systems
