As part of the Product Engineering organization, the Senior Staff Cloud Platform Engineer will play a strategic technical leadership role in shaping and scaling next-generation cloud platform capabilities. This role is focused on architecture, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across multi-cloud platforms while enabling engineering teams to deliver high-quality software at scale.

We are looking for a deeply technical leader and hands-on engineer who thrives in complex distributed systems, drives engineering standards, and influences platform direction across teams. You will lead by example, mentor senior engineers, and partner closely with architects, SREs, product managers, and leadership to build resilient, high-performance cloud platforms.

This is a high-impact role requiring strong ownership, systems thinking, and the ability to balance long-term platform vision with short-term delivery.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the technical leader for the Cloud Platform Engineering team in India, guiding design, implementation, and operational excellence.
  • Architect, design, and drive execution of large-scale, distributed cloud platforms and core infrastructure services.
  • Set and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and architectural patterns across the India team.
  • Lead development of platform services, automation frameworks, and internal tooling to improve availability, scalability, security, latency, and efficiency.
  • Mentor and coach engineers in India through code reviews, design reviews, and hands-on collaboration.
  • Partner closely with global architects, SREs, product managers, and leadership to ensure alignment between platform vision and execution.
  • Act as a key technical decision-maker, balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term platform sustainability.
  • Drive production excellence, including observability, incident response, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation.
  • Lead initiatives to improve reliability metrics such as availability, MTTD, MTTR, and capacity planning.
  • Own complex, cross-team technical problems and guide them to resolution.
  • Clearly document and communicate technical designs, trade-offs, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

Requirements: 

 

  • 9+ years of experience in cloud platform engineering, software engineering, DevOps, or production operations.
  • Proven experience leading teams through technical influence and expertise, particularly in a staff or principal engineering capacity.
  • 8+ years of hands-on public cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure, or OpenStack).
  • Hands on experience supporting Windows-based build and deployment platforms as a primary production use case.
  • Strong experience designing and operating highly available, distributed systems at scale.
  • Expert-level skills in infrastructure as code and automation, using Terraform, Ansible and one or more programming languages (Bash, Python, Go, or similar).
  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration, including Helm, Docker, and managed Kubernetes platforms (GKE/EKS/AKS).
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, ArgoCD and modern release practices.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Hands-on expertise in incident management, SRE practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong debugging skills across applications, infrastructure, networking, and cloud services.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead discussions, influence decisions, and mentor engineers.
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
