We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Staff Application Engineer to lead technical strategy and execution for advanced high-voltage GaN (Gallium Nitride) solutions in industrial power electronics. This role will drive product definition, develop cutting-edge reference designs, and enable AC-DC and DC-DC systems for applications such as industrial power supplies, energy storage, data centers, and renewable energy. You will serve as a technical authority, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with customers and internal teams to accelerate adoption of next-generation GaN technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Product Definition
    • Define and influence new high-voltage GaN product architectures aligned with market needs and emerging trends.
    • Provide strategic input to roadmap planning and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Reference Design & Evaluation Platforms
    • Architect and develop advanced reference designs and evaluation boards showcasing GaN performance in industrial-grade AC-DC and DC-DC systems.
    • Ensure designs meet stringent requirements for efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Customer Enablement & Expert Support
    • Act as a trusted technical advisor for key customers, offering deep application expertise and on-site troubleshooting.
    • Conduct technical workshops, design reviews, and training sessions to accelerate customer success.
  • Technical Collateral & Thought Leadership
    • Author high-quality application notes, white papers, and design guides to communicate best practices and product benefits.
    • Represent the company at industry conferences and technical forums.
  • Feedback Integration & Continuous Improvement
    • Gather and synthesize customer insights to guide product enhancements and future innovations.
  • Mentorship & Cross-Team Collaboration
    • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to talent development within the organization.
    • Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, and Marketing to ensure technical alignment and execution excellence.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
    • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years in power electronics design and application engineering, with significant exposure to high-voltage GaN technology.
    • Proven track record in AC-DC, DC-DC, and DC-AC system development for industrial, datacenter, renewable energy, or automotive applications.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong fundamentals in power electronics and WBG (Wide Bandgap) device switching.
    • Proficiency in schematic design and PCB layout (Altium preferred).
    • Hands-on experience with simulation tools (Simetrix, Simplis, PLECS, LTSpice).
    • Knowledge of magnetic component design (inductors, transformers).
  • Preferred:
    • Firmware development experience for power electronics.
    • Familiarity with compliance standards and safety certifications.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for customer engagement.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
