Role Overview:
The individual will be responsible for end-to-end expediting and quality control activities for Control & Instrumentation (C&I) equipment, ensuring on-time delivery, inspection compliance, and complete documentation as per project, client, and industry requirements. The role involves close coordination with vendors, engineering, procurement, project execution teams, and clients.
Expediting Responsibilities:
Coordinate and track manufacturing, inspection, and delivery schedules for critical C&I equipment across multiple vendors.
Monitor vendor progress against approved manufacturing plans and committed delivery dates.
Follow up with vendors for timely submission of drawings, QAPs, ITPs, inspection readiness, and dispatch clearance.
Coordinate with Procurement, Engineering, and Project teams to align material delivery with project milestones.
Identify potential delays and proactively implement mitigation plans to avoid schedule slippages.
Quality Control Responsibilities:
Execute, witness, and review inspections as per approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
Ensure 100% compliance with client specifications, applicable codes, and project standards.
Review inspection reports, calibration certificates, FAT/SAT reports, and test records.
Raise and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) in coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders.
C&I Equipment / Items Covered for Inspection & Expediting:
Inspection and expediting activities will typically cover, but are not limited to, the following C&I items:
Field Instruments:
Pressure, Temperature, Flow, and Level Transmitters
Pressure Gauges, Temperature Gauges, Thermocouples, RTDs
Control & Automation Systems:
PLC, DCS, and HMI systems
Control Panels, Marshalling Panels, Junction Boxes
Valves & Actuation:
Control valves with pneumatic or electric actuators
On–off valves with solenoids and positioners
Analyzers & Combustion Systems:
Gas analyzers, flame scanners
Burner Management System (BMS) components
Analyzer shelters and sample conditioning systems
Electrical & Instrumentation Accessories:
Instrument cables, cable trays, impulse tubing, fittings
Instrument air headers, manifolds, and tubing accessories
Safety & Shutdown Systems:
SIS components, safety relays, emergency shutdown devices
Documentation & Records Management:
Preparation, review, and compilation of Manufacturing Data Records (MDR / MDRB).
Maintenance of ITPs, ICPs (C&I), QAPs, inspection reports, and calibration records.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of quality documentation to clients and internal stakeholders.
Maintain document traceability and version control.
Client & Cross-functional Coordination:
Act as a coordination interface between Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Vendors, and Site Teams.
Participate in weekly client progress and quality review calls with Project Engineering and Engineering teams.
Present inspection status, expediting progress, risks, and mitigation plans in a professional manner.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of C&I equipment, inspection methodologies, and expediting processes.
Experience in vendor coordination within project execution environments.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly for client interaction and group discussions.
Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
Proficiency in quality documentation and compliance tracking.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, or related engineering disciplines.
1 to 6 years of hands-on experience in C&I expediting, quality control, or inspection roles within combustion systems, process plants, heavy engineering equipment, or EPC project environments.
Proven exposure to inspection and expediting of C&I equipment.
Practical experience in executing and witnessing inspections as per approved ITPs, ICPs (C&I), QAPs, and client specifications.
Strong working knowledge of quality documentation and records management, including preparation and review of MDR / MDRB dossiers, inspection reports, calibration certificates, FAT/SAT records, and dispatch documentation.
Experience in vendor coordination and expediting activities, including progress tracking, inspection readiness follow-ups, and delivery alignment with project schedules.
Demonstrated ability to interface with clients, participate in weekly progress and quality review calls, and support client or third-party inspections.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills, with the ability to engage effectively in group discussions involving Engineering, Procurement, Project, Vendor, and Client teams.
Good problem-solving and analytical skills to identify risks related to quality or delivery and drive timely corrective actions.
Familiarity with multi-vendor project environments and fast-paced EPC execution is preferred.
