What You’ll Bring To The Team:

As the leader of our Product Design team, you will help a team of designers bring intuitive designs informed by insightful user-centered research to our platform of Site Enablement solutions.

The Sr. Design Manager leads major strategic product initiatives at Florence and partners with leadership to achieve both team and company goals. In a player/coach role, the Sr. Design Manager ensures strategic alignment across scrum teams and oversees design execution. As a Sr. Design Manager, while providing leadership, mentoring and direct line management to designers from the team, you will also focus on fostering and evangelizing product design principles and thought leadership across the company, developing relationships with senior stakeholders and setting up new processes to build up UX principles across our platform.

The Sr. Design Manager plays a significant role in guiding our product design vision, strategies and information architecture. Working closely with key Product and Engineering leaders (Directors, Product Managers and Technical Leads), the Sr. Design Manager helps inform and shape the roadmap, creates design concepts and creates vision documents for both internal and external use.

We are seeking candidates who bring an intuitive sense of what creates strong user experiences, and have the proven design skills to create those experiences. Successful candidates have a balance of professional experience building out highly detailed and critical desktop and mobile experiences for B2B SaaS products, while also providing leadership to other design team members and organization. Successful candidates will be strong product thinkers passionate about designing user-centered products that enable our customers to do their best work.

You Will: 

Operate along three dimensions to support business outcomes:

People

  • Line management responsibilities for Product Designers, including employee development and personal/professional career growth
  • Lead the Design team in delivering high-impact, high-quality products
  • Lead and mentor fellow designers to push for out of box thinking and achieve greater design excellence.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement among the Design team and its core partners (Product Management and Engineering, as well as operational stakeholders

Product

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management to define vision, strategy, and roadmaps
  • Drive the execution of the roadmap by working closely with cross-functional teams
  • Build relationships and collaborate closely with the cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Engineering, Innovation, Sales and Customer Strategy.
  • Ensure that our Product priorities reflect holistic and deep understanding of user needs and workflows
  • Proactively identify usability and scoping risks to ensure Product success
  • Align with Brand Marketing to develop and maintain the company's brand identity across our platform, including web and mobile applications.

Process

  • Partner with R&D leadership on defining and growing the design team and discipline
  • Contribute and drive the execution of UX strategy (UX roadmap/planning) within multiple product areas.
  • Independently manages and leads thought leadership activities both internally (company presentation, knowledge sharing) and externally (user conferences, panels, etc.)
  • Drive effective generative/evaluative research to understand problem landscapes and identify and vet potential solutions
  • Shape interactions, processes, and artifacts that validate assumptions and build alignment with partners and stakeholders
  • Bring industry trends and methodologies in product design to Florence, ensuring we are continually evolving and improving our design practices
  • Develop and implement best practices for Design productivity, quality, and cross-functional collaboration

An Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, or equivalent/relevant work experience
  • 8+ years of professional multi-disciplinary product design experience in an agile development environment (ideally in B2B/enterprise SaaS applications
  • 5+ years of experience leading and/or managing Product Designers or team
  • A broad toolkit of design methods and skills, with at least 2 areas of deep expertise
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience closely working on agile scrum teams across Product Managers, Owners and Engineers
  • Strong written and verbal skills with a focus on communicating design rationale to and decisions to teams and active listening.
  • An updated design portfolio that demonstrates qualifications

Bonus If You Have:

  • Healthcare or 21 CFR Part 11 compliant domain experience
  • Experience creating, managing, and applying Design Systems
