Overview

We seek a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our network infrastructure while ensuring the highest security, reliability, and performance levels. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in layer 2 and 3 network design and protocols, with experience in NGFW management, SDWAN technologies, and cloud networking. Additionally, this role is essential for automation scripting expertise and the ability to work flexible hours, including rotational shifts and occasional change windows. 

Senior Network Engineer Skills and Experience Required

  • Layer 2 and 3 network design and protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS) 
  • Extensive Experience with Cisco and Meraki Networking Hardware. (Switches, Access Points, Firewalls, Gateways, IOSXe)  
  • Experience with change control and incident management processes
  • Experience with NGFW Design, Management, Configuration, Segmentation and Hardening. (Foritnet, PAN) 
  • Experience with SDWAN Technologies (Fortinet) 
  • Network infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP)  
  • User and site-to-site VPN (IPsec, SSL)
  • Networking of Azure Cloud and AWS Cloud Environments
  • Automation Scripting Experience (Teraform, Chef, Python)
  • Wireless networking design and protocols 
  • Experience with NAC Technologies (Clearpass, Cisco ISE) 
  • Work rotational shifts and occasional change windows during evenings and weekends

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Hardware preventive maintenance (fixes).
  • Ensure all trouble tickets are detailed and completed accurately. 
  • Investigates and presents creative and cost-effective solutions for networking to Retail stores, corporate systems, and other global locations 
  • Provides support for Corporate and store networking projects. 
  • Consult with Retail Operation users concerning networking designs, connectivity, and support issues. 
  • Assist in or resolve (escalated) technical incidents. 
  • Establish and maintain effective communications and relationships with other IT teams and business units. 
  • Stay informed of current technologies in order to support the business. 
  • Develop, improve, and enforce disciplines, policies, procedures, and practices aimed at ensuring system availability, efficient & responsive service delivery, cost effectiveness, technology value and overall client satisfaction. 

Technology Responsibilities: 

Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) Management: Configure, monitor, and maintain NGFW systems (Fortinet, PAN) to enhance network security and prevent potential threats. 

SDWAN Technologies: Implement and optimize SDWAN technologies to improve network performance and reduce operational costs. 

Network Infrastructure Services: Deploy and manage network infrastructure services, including DNS and DHCP, to ensure seamless connectivity for users and devices. 

VPN (Virtual Private Network) Solutions: Configure and manage user and site-to-site VPNs using IPsec and SSL for secure remote communication. 

Cloud Networking: Integrate and manage networking in a multi-cloud environment, facilitating efficient cloud-based services. 

Automation Scripting: Develop automation scripts using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, and Python to streamline network provisioning and enhance operational efficiency. 

Wireless Networking: Design and implement wireless networking solutions, ensuring reliable and high-speed connectivity for end-users. 

Network Design and Protocols: 

  • Design and implement robust layer 2 and layer 3 network configurations, including OSPF, BGP, and MPLS routing protocols. 
  • Optimize network performance and scalability to support the organization's evolving needs. 

Change Control and Incident Management: 

  • Lead change control processes to ensure smooth, seamless network operations with minimal service disruptions. 
  • Manage and resolve network-related incidents promptly and efficiently. 

Troubleshooting and Solutions Development: Investigate network-related issues and propose creative and cost-effective solutions for Retail stores, corporate systems, and other global locations. 

Project Support: Provide technical support for Corporate and store networking projects, ensuring successful project implementation. 

Effective Communication and Collaboration: Establish and maintain strong communications and relationships with other IT teams and business units. 

Continuous Learning: Stay informed about current technologies and industry trends to provide up-to-date support and solutions. 

Process Improvement: Develop, improve, and enforce disciplines, policies, procedures, and practices to ensure system availability, efficient & responsive service delivery, cost-effectiveness, technology value, and overall client satisfaction. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience is also acceptable.  
  • Experience in network engineering roles focusing on layer 2 and 3 network design and protocols. 
  • Strong knowledge of NGFW management and configuration and SDWAN technologies. 
  • Proficiency in network infrastructure services, user and site-to-site VPNs, and cloud networking, 
  • Experience with automation scripting using Terraform, Chef, and Python. 
  • Familiarity with wireless networking design and protocols. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work rotational shifts and occasionally change windows during evenings and weekends. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) will be advantageous. 

The base salary range for this position is $130,000-$180,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
