Position Overview:

MARA is seeking an experienced and certified Microsoft Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain the core Microsoft infrastructure that powers our enterprise environment. This role is responsible for modernizing and securing our identity, device management, collaboration, and messaging ecosystems across Microsoft 365, Azure, and related services.

The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise with Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, SharePoint, Exchange Online, and Purview— as well as a disciplined approach to system design, data governance, and enterprise security. This engineer will ensure MARA’s Microsoft foundation is robust, scalable, and compliant, enabling productivity while reducing tech debt and manual administration.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Microsoft Systems Ownership

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain the Microsoft 365 and Entra ID ecosystem, including identity, access, and compliance configurations.
  • Design and rearchitect Intune-based device management for Windows and macOS; lead migration and standardization initiatives.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Exchange Online, including compliance holds, retention, and eDiscovery.
  • Redesign and manage SharePoint Online, consolidating legacy content and optimizing permissions, tagging, and DLP.
  • Service as the subject matter expert for Microsoft Purview, to ensure data security and governance.
  • Implement governance and automation across Microsoft 365 workloads to reduce manual intervention and ensure audit readiness.

Infrastructure Modernization & Security

  • Lead modernization of identity, device, and collaboration infrastructure to align with zero trust and least-privilege models.
  • Collaborate with IT Security and Risk Management to implement security baselines, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure environments meet SOX and regulatory requirements.

Operational Excellence

  • Serve as the top escalation point for Microsoft platform-related incidents.
  • Drive standardization and automation of provisioning, patching, and configuration management.
  • Partner with system owners across departments to align business workflows with technical design.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT systems administration or engineering roles.
  • Proven expertise managing Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online at scale.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting identity, device management, and collaboration solutions in a secure, enterprise-scale environment.
  • Prior experience working with Okta
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of DLP, retention, compliance, and eDiscovery policies.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and project management skills.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with implementing CIS Level 1 and Level 2 benchmarks within an enterprise environment.

Certifications (Required):

  • Active, proctored Microsoft certifications such as:
    • AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate)
    • MS-500 (Microsoft 365 Security Administrator Associate)
    • SC-300 (Identity and Access Administrator Associate)
    • MD-102 (Endpoint Administrator Associate)

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience in a public or high-growth technology company preferred.

Prior experience in a public or SOX-compliant company preferred.
