Position Overview: The Welding Manager / Sr. Welding Manager is responsible for leading welding engineering operations, overseeing procedure development, ensuring compliance with international codes, and driving continuous improvement in weld quality and performance. The role requires deep expertise in materials, welding processes, standards, and team leadership within a heavy industrial / oil & gas manufacturing environment. Department: Manufacturing Location: Plot No. 131 & 132, Survey No. 27/B, Village - Amagon, Taluka Wada, District Palghar, 421 303, India Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, qualify, and implement WPS, PQR, and SWP in line with project requirements, ensuring compliance with ASME, API, PED, and related international standards.
  • Conduct welding inspections to ensure structural integrity, safety compliance, and adherence to customer quality expectations in coordination with the QA/QC team.
  • Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, metallurgists, and manufacturing teams to optimize welding processes, evaluate material weldability, and resolve technical challenges.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop welders and welding engineers, implementing structured training programs aligned with safety and industry best practices.
  • Recommend and manage welding equipment, consumables, and tools to ensure operational effectiveness, cost control, and efficient inventory management.
  • Perform root cause analysis on welding defects and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues and enhance weld reliability.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of welding procedures, welder qualifications, inspection findings, and compliance reports.
  • Stay updated on emerging welding technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement in welding automation, metallurgy, tooling, productivity, and overall process efficiency.
  • Specialized Technical Knowledge:
  • Welding of Carbon Steel, Cr-Mo Steel, Austenitic / Ferritic / Martensitic Stainless Steels, Inconel, Duplex & Super Duplex.
  • Proven expertise in welding processes: SMAW, GTAW, SAW, GMAW, ESSC, FCAW, weld overlays, and GTAW automation.
  • Deep understanding of ASME Sections I, II, V, VIII, IX and ASME B31.3.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment cycles, consumable estimation, and NDT (LPE, MPE, UT, RT, etc.).
  • Welding procedure qualification, welder performance qualification, and certification management.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex welding challenges.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate large teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • High attention to documentation, compliance, and reporting accuracy.
  • Preferred Candidate Profile:
  • B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical or Welding Engineering.
  • 10–15 years of experience in welding engineering, preferably in oil & gas, energy, or heavy industrial fabrication environments.
  • Strong professional exposure to Boilers, Heat Exchangers, Pressure Vessels, Piping Systems, and Structural Fabrication.
  • Experience working with international codes and customer specifications (ASME / API / PED).
  • Hands-on experience in welding automation and exotic materials preferred.
