CP One Japan provides the Rocket Now food delivery service in Japan and is committed to delivering fast, reliable, and customer‑focused food delivery to Japanese consumers by leveraging Coupang’s technological capabilities and innovative logistics solutions.

Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Japan Procurement owns end‑to‑end sourcing and procurement operations across all categories that support Rocket Now’s fast‑moving food‑delivery business. This includes food & beverage, packaging, rider equipment, supplies, logistics services, technology, and indirect spend.

The role is responsible for building a high‑performing supply base that delivers speed, cost efficiency, continuity, and quality to support rapid city expansion and ultra‑fast delivery operations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

• Build and execute procurement strategies across all sourceable categories
• Develop supplier segmentation and long‑term category roadmaps.
• Drive cost efficiencies through contract negotiations, competitive bidding, and demand consolidation.

Supplier Selection & Relationship Management

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers aligned with Rocket Now's performance standards.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, SLAs, and delivery schedules.
• Manage supplier scorecards and conduct quarterly performance reviews.

Operational Procurement Excellence

• Partner with operations, inventory, finance, and logistics teams to ensure supply continuity.
• Implement procurement automation, transparency, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Cost Optimization & Budget Control

• Own procurement budget and deliver measurable year‑over‑year cost savings.
• Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO), including logistics, waste reduction, and shelf‑life optimization.
• Use data insights to forecast demand and prevent stockouts or excess inventory.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with food safety standards, sourcing regulations, labor requirements, and sustainable packaging initiatives.
• Mitigate supply chain risks through dual‑sourcing, local vendor development, and contingency planning.

Team Leadership

• Build, lead, and mentor a team of buyers, planners, and sourcing specialists.
• Develop team capabilities in negotiation, analytics, and category expertise.

Qualifications

Required

• 7–10+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience.
• Experience in food delivery, retail, FMCG, Q‑commerce, e‑commerce, or grocery operations.
• Strong negotiation and vendor‑management skills with proven cost‑saving results.
• Ability to manage fast‑moving SKUs and high‑velocity operations.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Language requirements –　Business level Japanese and English

Education

• Bachelor's degree required (Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field).
• MBA or advanced degree preferred.
